Columbia County blasting work could bring afternoon booms

Explosions heard in Evans today likely will be due to rock blasting by the Associated Rock Blasting Company at the Ansley Townhome project on Old Evans Road.

Blasting will begin at 2 or 2:30 p.m., according to an e-mail from Columbia County Emergency Services Director Pam Tucker.

Rock blasting might occur again in the area later in the week, Mrs. Tucker wrote.
