One dead in Thomson wreck

Georgia State Patrol troopers are investigating a fatal two-vehicle wreck tonight on Wire Road near the Thomson Country Club.

One person is dead and authorities were attempting to free another person who was trapped in one of the vehicles as of 10:50 p.m. The wreck occurred shortly after 10 p.m. and was a head-on collision as the two vehicles were rounding a curve, authorities told The McDuffie Mirror.

Members of McDuffie County Fire/Rescue Services along with an extrication unit also are on the scene.

No other information is immediately available.
