Telephone and e-mail services have been restored to some Columbia County government offices, county officials said.

Service was restored about 6 p.m. to offices outside the Appling area, according to Pam Tucker, director of Columbia County Emergency Services Division.

The sheriff's office and animal control are still without service, but the 911 dispatch center remained in operation during the outage, officials said.

Telephone and e-mail services went down because of a cut in an external fiber line, Mrs. Tucker said.

No residential services were affected.
