Richmond County sheriff's investigators said today they hope some distinctive jewelry taken Tuesday in the rape of a 74-year-old Walton Way woman might turn up to provide clues.

This afternoon Sgt. Richard Roundtree, a violent crimes investigator, released images of the jewelry, which he said could have since been sold by the assailant.

Among the more recognizable items were:

l A three-strand, linked chain charm bracelet with a gold runner, a gold bicycle with green wheels and a gold Nefertiti charms as well as a three-in-one charm of a gold heart, cross and glove.

l A gold Elgin pocket watch with a flip-up dial cover. The watch, about 100-150 years old, has an illegible monogram on the lid.

l A yellow dog Democrat tie tack or collar/lapel pin with a running dog of yellow enamel paint.

l And a University of Georgia College of Pharmacy round lapel pin that is red and black with gold trim.

Sgt. Roundtree said in a telephone interview that about 80 tips have come in since the attack was reported. He is asking anyone who might have seen the jewelry or might have other information regarding the case to contact the Sheriff's Office at (706) 821-1080.
