Massachusetts setback won't deter Dems

  • Follow Letters

Did the Democrats take a beating in Massachusetts? Yes they did. When you put together a weak candidate, a poor campaign, a state that already has health care, a complicated health-care bill from Congress and add some scandals in the Massachusetts State House, the result is what occurred.

We have in Barack Obama a president who is resilient. Upon taking office he was faced with the legacy of a terrible war deficit from George W. Bush, a banking failure and rising unemployment. Yet, he has accomplished much despite Republican opposition almost to the person.

Obama has provided a stimulus package that has brought 1,500 jobs to Savannah River Site and millions to the CSRA school systems. He has signed the Lilly Leadbetter Fair Pay Act, which prevents discrimination in terms of equal pay for women, and he has enhanced stem-cell research. He has made inroads in the issue of the environmental impact of climate change, and he has introduced financial reform.

Notwithstanding all of this, there is a stain spreading across this country -- a stain of unflinching opposition to the president because he is a Democrat with a vision, a vision to help the people.

Democrats have suffered a defeat in Massachusetts, but we will follow our president and help him accomplish his agenda for the people. We have been awakened, and we will turn the tables and squash the naysayers who threaten the quality of our democracy.

Lowell Greenbaum

Augusta

(The writer is chairman of the Richmond County Democratic Party.)

LOL, once again thank you for

LOL, once again thank you for the hilarious letter, Mr Greenbaum. I don't know how you sleep at night after recording so many lies and misconceptions in archival perpetuity each and every month. We'll be waiting for February's comedy routine if Gloria doesn't manage to sneak one in before that.

Just one other note, the Democrates lost ONE seat, they still have the presidency and a majority in two houses and they are paralyzed....what a joke, you would think they could still pass the wonderful health care bill to help the poor peepols..

Buffoons will always support

Buffoons will always support the leadership efforts of a buffoon. It's Lowell Greenbaum's job to come across as a blind buffoon and he does a fine job. His perspective explains Massachusetts', and the country's, move away from our current president. November, 2010 and 2012 can't get here soon enough. What a horrible experiment this has been.

i like the choice of Greenbaugh words **Obama"s agenda not the people but Obama's agenda..OBAMA RAN ON CHANGE, his change had code meaning to the ultra-left and while many in this country wanted change this is NOT THE CHANGE THEY VOTED FOR..Obama said he would have the most transparent and honest govt ever, one based on integrity.. it turns out to be the most corrupt,self-serving bunch of liars I have ever seen. and yes it is transparent, you can see right thru the bullcrap to see the liars that they are..

For Mr. G.: The sleeping

For Mr. G.: The sleeping giant called "The People" is almost fully awake now. By November he will be fully awake. No amount of back-sliding by the Progressive Democrats will lessen his wrath at the polls. They are not to be forgiven for what they tried to do to our country.

Don't tell Hillary, Janet and

Don't tell Hillary, Janet and Nancy, okay? It's a sad statement that since the race card won't work to explain Mass, that the kook-aid drinkers resort to the sexist card. I think it was more about an attractive appearance vs butt ugly. But again, Hillary, Janet and Nancy disprove that theory.

Progressive parasites are in

Progressive parasites are in a panic. They're back-tracking, rewriting recent history (oh like, we have to pass this NOW, the sky is falling...now, per Pelosi.."we're in no hurry" HA!) and desperately trying to change masks, but what they fail to understand is that we have our eyes and ears open. We won't forget, and we are watching & listening. Keep believing your own lies and drinking the kool-aid, we'll see who gets squashed. It's not the people scattering like cockroaches when the light is turned on.

sounds like comrade lowel is ready to open the re-education camps. you had the tables turned in the best possible way. Control of both houses of congress to include supermajority in the senate, and the white house, and you couldnt get it done. dont blame republicans for the failures of your party. There is an awakening going on, and its a beautiful thing. more people are starting to think with their heads instead of their emotions and are seeing what a bunch of juveniles are running this country right now.

john, please, they didn't have the votes. Listen, there are about 50 Democrats in D.C. who are thrilled this bill got killed. They were caught between a rock and a hardplace. Support the bill and lose their job or support the people and be ostracized by the Party.

It's only an over-hyped

It's only an over-hyped victory to the ones who took the Mass. voters for granted and believed they had nothing to worry about. Now the progressives will pretend "we hear the people" and will want to make concessions since NOW they want to reach across the aisle...hmm uh huh, yeah, watch out progressives, that hand your reaching out with just may get lopped off (figuratively speaking).

The war within the democrat

The war within the democrat party is already starting. In one corner you will find the regular, run of the mill democrats. In the extreme far left corner you will find the Progressive democrats who will attempt to hold on to their power like rabid dogs until they have been shut down by the American public. Democrats - you need to figure out who you are and who is running your party before it is destroyed by the socialist progressives running it right now. Though they call themselves democrats, they are not. They are progressives who believe in massive government control and minimal citizens rights. The progressives are using your party to further their agenda. Keep denying it if you want, you will see the truth some day.

Spare us the Rahm Emanuel

Spare us the Rahm Emanuel talking points, Greenbaum. This election proved the intelligence of voters, yet the "spin" keeps coming from you and yours, as if you were not totally repudiated. Rome is buring, pal. That's why this election was lost. Dems can't comprehend their own ignorance. Face it, the party's over. The "stain spreading across the country" is the excrement your party and your prez tried to smear on the Constitution. The People are now bringing out the toilet paper to wipe it up. We're going to need a truckload. But we are up to the task. Dems are going to need to place an extremely large order of Kool Aid right away. In November, they will be provided with an extended vacation to drink it.

Please Lowell, you and the Dims keep thinking this way. Tell Barry to keep showing up to campaign for his fellow dim candidate. He has the Midas Touch! Nevermind every poll that says the country is not pleased with the direction Barry the puppet and Plastic faced Nancy are taking them. Keep up the great work you clowns are doing! The country has a big present for you in November of this year and an even bigger one waiting in 2012! Great work! Great Letter, Lowell!
