EVANS, Ga. - Mrs. Gloria O'Neal Ward of Hogan Way, Evans, Georgia entered into rest on Saturday, January 2, 2010 as she was surrounded by many loved ones at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. She was a native of Augusta, Georgia. She was the youngest child and only daughter of Mr. George and Mrs. Emma M. O'Neal, both of whom preceded her in death. She was affectionately loved by her two older brothers, George and Robert O'Neal. Gloria was a graduate of the 1967 class of Lucy C. Laney High School in Augusta. She attended Savannah State University and was a graduate of Phillips Business College in Augusta, Georgia. She was married to Enoch Ward, Jr. for over forty one years. They have two devoted children, whom she adored, Kevin LeRon and Kiffiny Emma. Gloria was employed for over twenty years with WBBQ Radio. During her tenure at the radio station, she worked in the traffic department and as an accounts receivables manager. At an early age, she was baptized into the fellowship of Second Providence Baptist Church in North Augusta, South Carolina, where Reverend Dr. Albert M. James serves as the current Pastor. Gloria was a loyal and faithful servant. She was a devoted member of the Deaconess Ministry, a co-founding member of the Monroe Gospel Choir (currently known as the Monroe Sanctuary Choir), and held numerous offices in the various ministries of the church including: President and Secretary of the Sanctuary Choir and Treasurer of the Adult Missionary Circle. Gloria was also affiliated with First Metropolitan Baptist Church of Augusta, Georgia, where her husband serves as Pastor. She leaves to cherish fond and happy memories: her loyal and dedicated husband, Reverend Enoch Ward, Jr.; a devoted son, Kevin (Tabitha) Ward; a loving daughter, Kiffiny Ward; a granddaughter, Brynn Ward; two brothers, George (Odessa) O'Neal and Robert (Beverly) O'Neal all of Augusta; three other affectionate 'children', James (Taynetta) O'Neal of Augusta, GA, LaTonya O'Neal of Atlanta, GA and Keith Harrison of Augusta, GA; two other nephews, Hubert Barnes of Atlanta, GA and Justin (Melissa) Koon of Augusta, GA; a special great nephew, Xavier O'Neal of Augusta, GA; two other nieces, Tamara Gray of Pottstown, PA and Jaime Sua of Chicago, IL; an aunt, Elizabeth Monroe of Augusta, GA; three 'sisters', Doris (Felix) Rodriguez of North Augusta, SC, Mary Ann Turner of Clearwater, SC, and Sheryl Lynne Monroe Jones of Augusta, GA; other cousins, Joseph E. Jones of Thomson, GA, Sheila Bedford and Joyce Akers both of Philadelphia, PA; she also shared a special relationship with her cousin, Raymone K. Bain of Washington, D.C.; two brothers-in-law, Charles M. Ward of Rancho Cucamonga, CA and Bennie (Gabi) Ward of Waco, TX; five sisters-in-law, Grace Gray of Pottstown, PA, Irene (William) Sua of East Stroudsburg, PA, Katherine (John) Brown of Raleigh, NC, Joann (Tom) Ogburn of Mission Viejo, CA, and Peggie (Wayne) Koon of Augusta, GA; two goddaughters, LaTonya O'Neal of Atlanta, GA and Rebe Turner of Clearwater, SC; and many other cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 8, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Second Providence Baptist Church, 1202 Old Edgefield Road, North Augusta, SC. The interment will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 7, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 PM at First Metropolitan Baptist Church, 3719 Belair Road, Augusta, GA 30909. Friends may call the family or W. H.
