An Augusta mother was arrested Friday after leaving her children home alone while she went to a nightclub.
Police discovered the children, ages 9 and 5, had been left unattended when the 9-year-old called 911 to report what sounded like gunfire near their home on the 2000 block of Second Avenue, according to a police report.
The girl told a deputy that her mother, Lashonda Mobley, left her and her brother by themselves to go to Club Cream. Ms. Mobley, 26, had been gone for more than two hours, the girl said.
Ms. Mobley arrived home about 45 minutes after police arrived.
Her children were turned over to the custody of the Department of Family and Children Services. Police charged Ms. Mobley with contributing to the deprivation of a minor.
