Aiken Department of Public Safety officials said the man entered the Check-N-Go in the 1700 block of Richland Avenue about 8 a.m. Dec. 17, showed a handgun and demanded money.

The Garden City Rescue Mission, 828 Fenwick St., is inviting all women and children who have ever been guests at their center to return for a Christmas Eve dinner tonight.

The dinner will be served at 6 p.m. After dinner, there will be a visit from Santa Claus.

Man lying in highway is run over by vehicle

The Edgefield County Coroner's Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating the death of a man run over by a car Tuesday.

Edgefield County Coroner Thurmond Burnett said Lewis McKinney, 51, of Saluda County, was lying in the middle of Ridge Road about 12:20 p.m.

"The car went over top of him, but we don't know if that caused the death," Mr. Burnett said Wednesday. "He could have been dead already."

The Lincoln sedan, driven by Isaiah Gartrell, of Johnston, was traveling west on Ridge Road, said Trooper Scot Edgeworth. Mr. McKinney was pronounced dead at the scene.

No charges were filed.

Police issue sketch of man in Aiken robbery

Authorities have released a composite sketch of a robbery suspect accused of holding up an Aiken check-cashing business last week.

Aiken Department of Public Safety officials said the man entered the Check-N-Go in the 1700 block of Richland Avenue about 8 a.m. Dec. 17, showed a handgun and demanded money.

He left in a white vehicle traveling toward Augusta with an undisclosed amount of money.

Witnesses say the suspect was in his late 20s or early 30s and well-spoken. He said he was from Sumter, S.C., they said. He is described as a black man with a slim build, clean-shaven and about 5 feet, 8 inches to 6 feet, 2 inches tall. He was wearing a black sweater tied around his neck, white shirt, black pants, black shoes and a gold suede hat.

Man burned by power line in fair condition

A Hephzibah man burned while trying to restore his disconnected electrical service Dec. 7 remains in Doctors Hospital, where his condition has been upgraded from critical to fair condition, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Berry M. "Monty" Arrington was initially taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital after he touched a 7,200-volt electrical line while trying to reconnect power to his home at 2019 Liberty Church Road. Jefferson Energy Cooperative had disconnected the service.

Dancer of TV fame to perform at church

Kathryn McCormick, of Martinez, who appeared on So You Think You Can Dance , will perform today at TrueNorth Church's Christmas Eve services.

Ms. McCormick, 19, who placed third in the TV show, will dance to Silent Night at the 4, 5:30 and 7 p.m. services Thursday at TrueNorth, which is her home church.

From the description of the robber, he is the same guy that has been robbing, murdering, stealing and passing around venereal diseases in the CSRA for the last 20 years. Eye witnesses say from their description that 8 out of 10 crimes in this area have been committed by the perp whose photo appears above.

John, you may not remember, but years back there was a white woman in NA that had AIDS and she infected a lot of people. They published her picture so that people would know who she was.
