Man throws bomb into wrong house

  • Follow Metro

THOMSON --- Authorities say Robert Holt, 25, wanted to get back at his old girlfriend by throwing a Molotov cocktail through the window of her home.

He not only got arrested; he hit the wrong house.

Mr. Holt was being held Tuesday without bond, charged with throwing the firebomb through the window of a Dell Drive house Sunday night. He was taken into custody soon after by Thomson police.

Authorities said Mr. Holt had been arrested on a variety of charges in recent months but is now facing arson in the first degree, four counts of aggravated assault and possession of an explosive device, according to police records. Each charge is a felony.

No one was injured when the device was thrown through the front window of a residence in the 500 block of Dell Drive about 9 p.m., police said.

Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John W. Oxendine said in a statement that Mr. Holt mistook the home for one where he thought his estranged girlfriend was living.

Firefighters with the Thomson Fire Department responded to a fire call at the home where damage was reported.

Mr. Holt is being held without bond in the McDuffie County Law Enforcement Center.

Look at the charges. That will indicate something about this crime and the individual's responsible for the prosecution of the offenses. There is a pattern of excessive charges of some people, while a noticeable absence of charges when dealing with others. After a while, the evidence points toward a disparity in charges. Guess who usually gets the short end of so-called justice?

justus4, Do you think one can be MORE guilty? I realize these comments are opinion and not fact, but your opinions are so deeply rooted in bias that they are not even worth reading. Your comments could not even sway the opinon of the most ignorant amoung us--and truthfully, usually would cause one to lean toward the oppisite view.

Why do I have a mental

Why do I have a mental picture of this guy in cuffs, saying, "My Bad.", when he was told that he torched the worng house? I'm curious about the variety of charges for the last few months. I'm guessing domestic violence related, but don't want to jump to conclusions.

Calvincool-Google maps are not 100% accurate.// With all the single women available, I don't understand Mr. Holt's obsession with his ex-girlfriend. He sounds like a control freek who needs some jail time to cool off and get a perspective on life. Time out, Robert. Go to a corner and wait for the bell for round two!

Posted by justus4 on Wed Dec 23, 2009 5:33 AM....Yep, seems that according to the Justice Dept stats, 1 out of 3 (that's one third for you justass) of inmates in prison are black males. Could it be it is bacause 1/3 of black men commit crimes?

BTW Justass4, 1 out of 7 male inmates are white. I guess that's bias, right? Or could it be that white males don't commit as much rime as black males.

A rant to the webmaster and the AC. Seems no one was in the office to correct the edit problem until I called the head honcho. Excuse was all were on holiday leave. Kind of dumb to put everyone responsible for putting the AC on line to be on leave at the same time.

This guy is an idiot beyond belief. I had the same visual image as robbie suggested when I first read this. I only wish from the headline that the story depicted "wrong house" as a place where the homeowner successfully defended his property by sending this idiot 6 feet under.

Justus4, If the guy was a brother, they would have beaten him up in the back of the police car, uncuffed him, left the door unlocked, and when he ran to get away they would shoot him dead with over a hundred bullets. NOT lol You are pitiful.
P.S. But since this guy missed her house, and hit a brothers house, he could be charged with an "accidental hate crime"
