ATLANTA, Ga. - Eva Luise Kelly, 80, passed away December 8, 2009. She is survived by her adoring husband George Lockwood Kelly; daughter Colleen and her son Fritz and daughter Jennifer; daughter Ingrid and her sons Carl and James. She was preceded in death by son, Todd Reuter Kelly. Eva Luise Reuter was born in Germany on October 10, 1929. After living her early years in Koblenz, Eva moved to Marburg on the Lahn, where she later began her studies at Philipps University. In 1952, Eva was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to the University of Georgia, where she met George, who is from Augusta. They married in Koblenz in 1954. Eva loved people, languages, music, and travel, which made her the perfect companion for George in his career in the Foreign Service at diplomatic posts in New Zealand, Ethiopia, Germany, Switzerland, and Argentina. Eva already knew, or learned while there, the language of every country in which they lived (Italian and Spanish, in addition to German, English, and French). She enjoyed teaching, especially German, both voluntarily and at a language school. Eva will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
