The Sabra and Shatila refugee camps had barriers/fences too. All that did was make easier for the IDF to carry out their massacres. Fences work both ways.... Happy Hannuka!
The day Dr. and Mrs. William M. Johnson's letter appeared in The Augusta Chronicle ("Israeli wall is unfair to Palestinians," Nov. 25) marked the first anniversary of the Islamic terrorist attack on Mumbai. The New York Times made this befuddling observation: "It is not known if the Jewish center was strategically chosen, or if it was an accidental hostage scene."
Mumbai has a population of 20 million, but one Chabad House. An "accidental hostage scene" indeed -- the terrorists must have been the luckiest jihadists. At the Chabad House two "inflamed moderates" shouting "Allahu akbar!" tortured the young rabbi and his pregnant wife, then gunned them down. Their child hid with his nanny in a closet; they survived. They had no wall, no roadblocks and no army to protect them.
The late Yasser Arafat (born in Egypt) launched his "Tet offensive" in March 2002; a new cycle of violence had begun, and the consequences were far-reaching. For some, Passover, March 27, 2002, proved to be their last supper. A suicide bomber detonated his bomb in the crowded dining room of the Park Hotel, Netanya. Twenty-eight people were murdered, and hundreds suffered ghastly injuries as ball bearings and nails ripped through the crowd. Some victims were relatives of those who had perished in an earlier bombing; others had survived the Holocaust.
They had no wall to protect them.
Public rage in Israel was at an all-time high, after Israel had demonstrated restraint to give U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Anthony Zinni's mission a chance.
Concomitantly, the Israeli government began construction of a barrier -- in some places a high wall and in others an electronic fence -- and rooted out the terrorist infrastructure that Arafat had promised to do under the Oslo Accords. Surprisingly, the barrier, combined with excellent intelligence, has proved its worth.

I wish America had a wall with Mexico to keep the gansters, drug dealers, cayotes and other criminal elements out and to help protect American jobs, American values and the American economy!
Fences work both ways. The radical Islamists wearing the name Palestinian today choose to bomb the hand that feeds them. A fence is necessary to make them behave.
carcraft;we DO have a wall,it's called the national guard.it's purpose is to guard the nation, hence the name.
Before long, Cain the anti-Semite will be here to disparage any ally of the US...........mark my words.
Tigger;I don't think so.I called a federal judge's attention to his posts and he(judge) is a veteran.cain is trying to clean his hard drive.
No matter what the Jews are a blessed people, GOD said it.
wizzardx1 on Thu Dec 17, 2009 5:47 AM Put the National Guard on the boader with Mexico and let them have at it then!
Uncle Strom, why, pray tell did Israel go into those refugee camps, by the way, there were no fences around them! Good for them and their fence--we need to take lessons!
southernguy, 20 plus years in the region and fluency in both languages. Al Qassam rockets still fly over the wall as you know. I'm not a sabra or kibbutzim. I was/am working for the American side. (at least until Obama showed up)
Man, I'm not supporting either side in this. Get off that idea.
I am disturbed by Hillary's bumbling in the region though. I will "assume" she is sticking up for her boss' ideals. Now the Israelis just look at us and say "No". Obviously they aren't going to work it out themselves and we aren't helping as far as I can tell.
The wall is there because Israel is an apartheid state and not a lot different from South Africa's old regime. The US government does not criticize it because many of our politicians are on the take and some are just easy to see hypocrites. But the wall does get condemned in the UN General Assembly while the US runs interference for Israel on the UN Security Council.
southernguy; The wall that I was referring to is a "wall" of guardsmen stationed along the rio grande. It COULD be there in two days, yet nobody thinks it is "politically correct" to GUARD our borders.
Wouldn't it be nice if the United States government treated Illegal aliens as Mexico does!
I stand corrected.....no Cain.........maybe Wiz is right!
