Radicals overshadow peaceful Muslims

  • Follow Letters

Nazir Ahmad Sheikh ("Don't point fingers at peaceful Muslims," Dec. 5) has really touched my last little nerve and gone over the top calling the murder of young soldiers an "unfortunate event." Call it what it was: a cold-blooded act of terrorism carried out by a whackjob follower of Islam.

Mr. Sheikh says we cannot implicate a religion on the murders.

My religion does not advocate killing people who do not believe as I do. Does his?

My religion does not condone killing a daughter who has converted to another religion. Does his?

My religion does not teach that you go to heaven by blowing yourself and innocent people to bits. Does his?

My religion does not think it a crime, worthy of death, to possess the book of another religion. Does his?

My religion does not relegate females to a zero status. Does his?

Mr. Sheikh points to nutcase acts of killings in this country by individuals. We do have some, as do all societies. The main difference is that they did not target a people of another religion. Two jets that brought down the Twin Towers were under the control of "peace-loving" Muslims who thought they would go straight to heaven. I have no idea where they went, but I can assure you I have hopes as to where they are, and it is not sitting at the right hand of any one, and 72 virgins are not involved.

Mr. Sheikh mentioned militias. There are some and they are very much off the deep end but, again, they do not target innocent nonbelievers.

He calls the murders at Fort Hood an "unfortunate event." What would he call 9-11 ? A minor accident?

My finger is pointed at Muslims. I am sure there are peace-loving Muslims but they are vastly overshadowded by the bloodthirsty terrorists all over the world yelling "Allahu akbar!" before they kill innocents.

John Gasko, Martinez

They aren't radicals.

They aren't radicals. Radicals go outside accepted beliefs of a group. They are fundamentalists because they practice and believe in the literal writings of their religion. Calling them radicals was the "politically correct" term to use. When are we going to give up political correctness and start calling things what they really are? In light of current events I think it's time to start doing that NOW!

John Gasko, you disagree with

John Gasko, you disagree with Nazir Ahmad Sheikh that the tragic incident at Ft. Hood was an "unfortunate event". Does that mean you think it was a "fortunate event"? Mr. Gasko, the religion of Islam does not advocate killing people who do not believe as Muslims do. For you to state otherwise is evidence of your ignorance about Islam or an intentional misrepresentation of the truth which is evidence of an unchristian attitude toward those who do not believe as you do. Islam does not condone killing a daughter who has converted to another religion. Mr. Gasko, the same response applies as to your previous loaded "question", but I add that Islam do not condone the sexual exploitation of women seen in western pornography. Does your religion condone the sexual exploitation of women in the pornography industry, Mr. Gasko? Islam does not think it a crime, worthy of death, to possess the book of another religion. Is Christianity responsible for Hitler's persecution of the Jews, Mr. Gasko? Jews, Christians & Muslims lived in harmony in Spain before the Spanish Inquisition. Is Christianity responsible for the Spanish Inquisition, Mr. Gasko? ~~~cont'd~~~

John you are so full of it.

John you are so full of it. You know as well as anyone else that the Quran advocates the killing of any nonbelievers and believers that convert away from Islam.

~~~cont'd from above~~~ Mr.
~~~cont'd from above~~~ Mr. Gasko, are Christians responsible for United States being the only nation to ever use nuclear weapons on civilian populations? Christianity states that God is the judge. Are YOU condemning the 9/11 hijackers to eternal damnation? The Bible also states "Vengeance is mine saith the Lord". Are you consumed with desire for vengeance, Mr. Gasko? Neo-Nazi & other right-wing extremists have killed police in the country. Intolerant groups have murdered homosexuals in this country. Does your religion condone these "unfortunate events", Mr. Gasko? Does Christianity condone the killing of people because of their sexual orientation? I have not heard you speak out against the numerous documented acts of right-wing violence in this country. The cases are reported in the news, Mr. Gasko. Where is your Christian voice speaking out against these injustices? Peace loving Muslims are NOT "vastly overshadowded by the bloodthirsty terrorists all over the world yelling "Allahu akbar!" before they kill innocents", Mr. Gasko. Remember when you "point your finger" at Muslims you have 3 other fingers pointing right back at you. Look to the beam hatred in your own eye, John Gasko

Overburdened.....don't expect JRHC to NOT defend an enemy of the US. That would be way out of character for a documented liar.

Dang, Cain. Your convoluted

Dang, Cain. Your convoluted ramblings and rantings usally have some perverted form of reasoning tied to them that give the most humble Obamamite something to grasp onto, but this mess you've scrawled today is just jumbled mumbo jumbo. Mixed mantras? I think so. You must be DAYS off you meds...or have you converted and this is your "coming out" post? Pure nut case either way.

Are you saying that the

Are you saying that the religion of Islam is a "enemy of the US", Tigger_The _Tiger? From your previous mistranslated, out of context, inaccurate, damning "quotes" from the Quran, it is readily apparant that Islam is the enemy in your hate filled eyes. Self-righteous Americans motivated by hatred & vengeance who profess to be Christians & pretend that they & their religion are superior & are in unique possession of the truth is what I am speaking out against, Tigger_The_Tiger. As I have stated innumerable times before, United States has the right & responsibility to bring those DIRECTLY responsible for 9/11 to justice. United States does NOT have the right to occupy other nations & wage long counterinsurgency wars in an effort to dominate entire regions of the world. It should surprise no one when there is armed resistance to a foreign occupation. This is a prescription for endless war. God does not condone strife. That is not what His Kingdom is about. To the extent that United States pursues goals other than bringing indicted terrorists to justice & using its right of "self-defense" under the strictest definition of the term, the wider war aims of United States will fail.

P.S. I am coming from a

P.S. I am coming from a Christian perspective. Efforts by United States, under the pretext of waging a "just war", in order to dominate entire countries and regions of the world, will precipitate a massive clash of civilizations that it cannot win. America will not win a war that is perceived as a war of subjugation or a war on Islam.

I've noticed that when you

I've noticed that when you use facts and direct quotes against a liberal, they nearly always claim you are taking things out of context, yet they can't give you a context that makes the quote any different. Example was when Cain FINALLY admitted that his denial of saying "F#%@ the American Soldier serving in Iraq" was a lie, but the quote was taken out of context.....yet his attempt to put it in context didn't change the hateful nature of his slur.

Cain.....please provide everyone with the correct translation and proper context of the following passage. ---- Quran 2:191-193 ---- And slay them wherever ye find them, and drive them out of the places whence they drove you out, for persecution [of Muslims] is worse than slaughter [of non-believers]...and fight them until persecution is no more, and religion is for Allah.

Where are the Christian

Where are the Christian ministers speaking about against the hate filled Augusta Chronicle editorials and the hate speech promulgated by letters to the editor published by The Augusta Chronicle? Tigger_The_Tiger both the context and the accurate translations of the quote from the Quran which you falsely claim to be a commandment to kill non-believers has been explained in full previously in other Reader Comments on this ongoing subject that the Augusta Chronicle editorial staff (ACES) chooses to hype.

Cains anti Christian rantings from September 1, 2007: "No doubt you will use the sophomoric argument a la C.S. Lewis that either Jesus was the son of God or the biggest liar in history. He was neither. He was a human being - if he existed at all."

I never said that God did not

I never said that God did not exist. I said it is a myth that Jesus claimed to be God Himself. Jesus did not physically rise from the dead & is not coming back to rule this world in a real or literal sense. That does not mean that Jesus was not God-filled. The Muslims see him as a major prophet which he most certainly was. It is also apparent that the spirit of love which Jesus embodies does not abide in the hearts of haters professing to be conventional Christians. I may be unconventional, but I believe in the Great Spirit, the universality and power of love, and I am prepared for God's Kingdom of justice, righteousness, and peace to come to Earth. Christmas along with Easter should be the seasons of peace, love, and understanding for Christians. I do not see masses of professing conventional Christians speaking out against unjust wars. Too many Christians let fear rule their hearts instead of the love, assurance, joy, and peace the true Christian religion offers them. This will be another Christmas when the tiding of good will toward all men falls on deaf ears. This will be another holiday hijacked by militarism and the politically correct demand to thank soldiers instead of God.
