IRVINGTON, N.J. - Ms. Irene Chavous died Saturday, December 5, 2009, peacefully at her home in Irvington, N.J. Ms. Chavous was a native of Aiken County, S.C. She lived in New Jersey for 42 years and enjoyed a career in electronics. She was a member of St. Mark Baptist Church of Aiken, S.C. Jackson-Brooks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include her daughter, Sharonda A. Chavous, Augusta, Ga.; one sister, Annie Cook, Augusta, Ga.; three brothers, Jimmy, Elroy, and Barney L. Chavous, all of Aiken, S.C. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 12, 2009, at 11 a.m. from the St. Mark Baptist Church, Aiken, S.C. Burial will follow in the Chavous Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The remains will lie in state at the church Saturday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
