AUGUSTA, Ga. - Elizabeth "Beth" Manning Westbrook, 91, entered eternal rest on December 3, 2009, the daughter of the late William Harris Manning, Jr. and Edna Blanche Anderson. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Saturday, December 12, 2009 at the Telfair St. Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home with Dr. Rodger Murchison officiating. Interment will follow at Barnwell County Memorial Cemetery in Barnwell, South Carolina. Bill Westbrook, Don Westbrook, Cade Westbrook, Wes Westbrook, Howard Tattershall, and Gary Mohr will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are, Guy Able, Gene Wolf, and Ben Morton. Mrs. Westbrook was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years Ralph C. Westbrook, Sr. and their son, William Thomas Westbrook. Beth attended public schools in Barnwell County graduating from Barnwell High School in 1934, and received a degree from Georgia State College for Women at age 19. She was employed by the Dept. of Agriculture in Washington, DC, and then in Birmingham, AL, where she met her future husband, Ralph Calhoun Westbrook. The family lived in Barnwell after WWII, moving to Louisville, GA, in 1951 where the Westbrook's owned a farm equipment business. The family relocated to Augusta in 1962 which has been her home since. While in Augusta, Beth worked at Langford Middle School and later at Augusta College. We celebrate Beth's life as a loving and kind daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend who will be missed by all who knew her. Beth and Ralph were faithful members of the First Baptist Church of Augusta for over 30 years. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Building Fund, P.O. Box 14489, Augusta, GA 30919. Mrs. Westbrook is survived by two sons, Ralph Calhoun, Jr. (Nancy) of Monroe, North Carolina, James Francis (Mary) of Lillian, Alabama; five loving grand children and seven special great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Mary Westbrook Able, and her husband, Guy Able, a most welcome and beloved part of our family, Augusta; loving sister, Frances Achurch McWhorter of Evans, Georgia, two sisters-in-law, Mrs. William Westbrook and Mrs. Quiren Klasen of Dalton, Georgia. The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 PM Friday, December 11, 2009 at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 1134 Telfair St., Augusta, Georgia.
