W. Cason Bruker - (AUGUSTA, Ga.)

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Monday, November 30, 2009, at his residence, Mr. W. Cason Bruker, 88, husband of Jane Sanford Bruker. Mr. Bruker lived his entire life in Augusta. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Edward Bruker. He was a graduate of the Academy of Richmond County. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Georgia in 1948 where he was also a member of the Georgia Glee Club. Mr. Bruker was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific where he was awarded three Bronze Stars. He was a member of First Baptist Church and taught the Cason Bruker Bible Class for 60 years. He was an active deacon since 1948, he was chairman of the Body of Deacons and moderator of the church in 1985 and made Deacon Emeritus in 1995. He has served on many committees including Finance and Committee on Committees. He was a member of the Augusta Rotary Club where he was a Paul Harris Fellow; the Pinnacle Club; the University of Georgia Bulldog Club and the Independent Insurance Agents Association. Mr. Bruker looked for the best in others and had given the best he had; his life was an inspiration; his memory a benediction. Family members in addition to his wife include sons: Dr. William C. Bruker, Jr. and his wife, Merritt of Aiken, Davenport Sanford Bruker and his wife, Karen of Augusta; six grandchildren: Camilla Corbitt, the late Alison W. Bruker, William C. Bruker III, Caroline E. Bruker, Colleen Sanford Bruker and Sarah H. Bruker; one special nephew: Ronald E. Corbitt, Jr. and his wife Aurelia; and three nieces: Mary Blount and husband, Wayne, Mary Perrin and husband Walter, and Molly Finley and husband Wadley. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 3, 2009 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church with Dr. Greg Deloach and Dr. R. J. Robinson officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be the W. Cason Bruker Sunday School Class and the body of Deacons. Pallbearers will be: Tony Atkins; Lombard Fortson; Hap Harris, Bobby Martin, Everett Morris, Frank Vaughn, Terry Williams and Curt Young.
