the bigger government gets the more inefficient it gets. Thanks to clinton, bush, and now Obama, don't expect it to get any better. enjoy that tax credit when you get it.
I wonder why one of the most talked-about stimulus efforts is the least talked-about failures? I'm talking about the $8,000 homebuyer tax credit.
My wife and I closed on our house in June, and submitted our amended claim immediately. We were told to expect the return within six to eight weeks. Well, here we are in November, and we have been calling every week -- and no refund yet.
Three weeks ago, we were told they have our claim and are reviewing it and we should hear something within six weeks. Recently we received two letters in the mail saying we will hear something by Dec. 27. We did everything they have requested, but still they stall.
We are not the only ones, either. We are military and many of our military friends are having the same problem. How does six weeks turn into six months and nobody is talking about it?

Just another fraud filled peogram thanks to our Socialist/RINO Senators, Johnny & Saxby. We need to elect CONSERVATIVE senators to replace our 2 owned by LOBBYIST crooks.
And the government wants to control our health care, too????
Believe me, the Repugs are behind it all. It`s a plot to make Democrats look bad by gumming up the system
That's Obama with change you can believe in. How's that workin for ya?
Overbtp, If you want the President to fail it is like biting your nose off to spite your face. If he fails, we all fail. I always believed Americans working together was one of our strengths. Instead of all the snotty comments how about some real solutions?
We just want the plans/policies of prezbho to fail. Who has ever said they wanted him prezbho to fail? Believe me, the GOP don't have to do anything to make the dims look bad by gumming up the system. The dims are gumming up the system - all by themselves. If you're not concerned - You're not paying attention...
President Obama. despite what people think, does not control the IRS. That would be Congress that does that. And yes, waiting 5 months for a refund that you filed in June is pretty typical. After the crunch of tax season is over, their staff is reduced and it takes longer. Whoever told you it would take 6 to 8 weeks gave you wrong information.
These programs have been started under the prezbho admin and prezbho is 'suppose' to be the leader. As rambo emanuel says "you don't waste a good crisis' and everything continues to be a crisis and a disaster under this admin.
I would think you get that credit when you itemize next year. The 8000 lowers your taxable income just like all the other credits. Otherwise it would be a tax refund or rebate. I don't think the program said anything about buying a $100,000 house for $92,000. I'm just comparing this credit to the low emmissions vehicle credit and buying a hybrid credit.

check this out and do the math.
I think this program and the cash for clunkers program was the stupidest thing this administration has done thus far. I don't think anyone bought a house or a car because of these deals. They may have moved a little quicker, but I think the people who bought them were going to anyway, they just got a bonus for doing so. So in other words people who were well enough off to buy a house or new car got a huge break at the rest of america's expense.
When you file an amended return, it takes months to process. It's not like when you file the original 1040.
