I will be as far away from stores as I can get on that day!
The national obsession today is eating. Friday is the day for a gluttony of shopping.
Black Friday is the official kickoff to the holiday shopping season, when retailers do about 40 percent of their business for the year, according to MarketWatch.
"The seasonal aspect can be pretty strong," Ken Lin, the founder of Credit Karma, told MarketWatch. "Consumer spending is so much higher in the fourth quarter than any other quarter of the year."
Big retailers including Walmart and Best Buy seeking a boost in Christmas sales in an anemic market rolled out their notices of door-busters earlier in the week to entice shoppers in.
If you plan to join the crowds, you need to plan ahead, and we're here to help. Here are shopping tips and store information to help you survive the big day.

all my shopping is done online.......I think the AC is Trying to get folks out to the stores....sorry ...it ain't happening.
I know nothing about this Black Friday shopping, but one year the battery in my truck went dead on Thanksgiving Day. The next morning I figured I'd run to Walmart and get one. Lo and behold the crowd that morning coming out with these huge boxes. I came home with my battery and THREE TV's.
Riverman1, that is hilarious! Thanks for the laugh! :)
There is nothing I want or need, that is worth dealing with crazy shoppers. Normally rational people go berserk on that day.
I'm disappointed. I visit Augusta annually to see grand kids -- and to do my annual Black Friday shopping. Someone had stolen the ad inserts from the Chronicle at Bi-Lo before employees showed up for work. Bi-Lo employees told me about the theft and suggested I buy elsewhere. The Circle K employee across the street gladly took my money and sold a stripped newspaper. Good for Bi-Lo, shame on Circle K. I hope the stores are already out of the limited quantities of whatever the thieves were wanting to buy.
