Two men charged with killing random victim

The Coast Guard cutter Ingham passes Patriots Point on its way out of Charleston Harbor, far right, near Charleston, S.C. The Ingham was an attraction for 20 years at the Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum. Now it's heading to a new home at the Miami-Dade Historical Maritime Museum in Key West, Fla.

LEXINGTON --- Authorities say two people have been charged with killing a random victim on the side of the road after deciding they wanted to kill someone.

Lexington County Sheriff James Metts said Phillip Jackson, 22, and D'Marqus Thomas, 20, were charged with murder Friday. The sheriff said the men had been arrested in a separate shooting and robbery about a week ago.

Sheriff Metts said the men saw James Lybrand III, 20, walking along a road near West Columbia on Nov. 11 and shot him in the head after asking him to come to their car.

Mr. Thomas and Mr. Jackson are being held without bail. It wasn't immediately clear whether they had attorneys.

Animal control officer charged with cruelty

ANDERSON --- An Anderson County animal control officer and his wife face 92 animal cruelty counts after 177 dogs, a cat and a bird were seized from their home.

Deputies told the Anderson Independent-Mail that Wade Patterson, 40, and Faith Patterson, 26, were charged Friday.

Investigators say they found several dog carcasses on the property near Liberty.

They also found some dogs that were malnourished and others living in unhealthy conditions.

Investigators say the couple runs a dog rescue and adoption business. A phone listing couldn't immediately be found.

Vicki Vickars says the couple would bring dogs to her Animal Supply House store in Easley for grooming and that they never looked neglected.

Comments

tired of the crap

the two need to be put in the center of town and strung up by their necks until they die. oh but thats cruelty. lets see if this is considered a hate crime i doubt it since the shooters were black and the vic is white.

The two murderers need to experience "Old Sparky". Too bad they can't be turned over to the family of the victim for some "tooth for a tooth, eye for an eye" justice. Slice 1/16th of an inch off of them every day, starting on the bottoms of their feet.

There will be no hate crime charges here as Whites are second class citizens in America. There is an undeclared race war being perpetrated against Whites in this country.
