Bond denied in molestation case

A man and woman accused of child molestation were denied bond Friday.

James P. Collins Jr., 35, and Allison Cansler, 31, were arrested Nov. 3 on a charge of aggravated child molestation. An Augusta woman told Richmond County sheriff's investigators that her 9-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter told her Mr. Collins and Ms. Cansler molested them for several weeks while the suspects were staying at the family's home.

The two have no prior felony convictions and deny the allegations.

Teacher facing federal charges put on leave

An offer is expected to go to Augusta commissioners within 20 days, according to court documents. The judge signed an order Thursday giving the parties until Dec. 8.

Ms. Smith was the head of the engineering department until a majority of commissioners voted to fire her in 2005. She filed suit in 2007, alleging her termination was racially motivated.

The commission's lawyers STILL haven't found enough evidence to prove Smith's incompetency? That's just ridiculous. She must have some serious damning information on someone.

You got people molesting children and all you are worried about is this Smith thing?

happythoughts

Nothing is free, everything comes with a cost. If it don't feel right don't do it. Now your reputation is scarred as a scam artist. When you screw the government you're screwing yourself.

Don't be absurd, ISPY. There's plenty of room and reason to worry about both things, even if it's not stated. No comment is necessary when it comes to the evil of child molesters. This Smith thing, on the other hand is an attack on all of us in Richmond County. She was incompetent and got fired, and she just can't accept that that was the case, or else she's using her blackness as a means to fleece the citizens of Richmond County to assuage her wounded pride. Same old story from someone raised to believe she's entitled because of race. It's hard to believe she actually thinks this could ever have been the case when half the County Commission and half the county was black at the time of her firing.

happythoughts

You won't get fired if you're worth keeping. Obviously you were culled.

tired of the crap

it was called as seen and that is that but they dont wont to step on any ones toes poor babies. when is it gonna be our turn?
