Where's dissent from peaceful Muslims?

  • Follow Letters

The Fort Hood massacre was two weeks ago now. Murder. Horror. Cowardice. Terrorism.

Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, a native-born Muslim -- blessed by the opportunities our great nation provides; protected by our laws; enjoying our freedoms -- finally expressed and committed what appears to have always been in his heart; what he has heard in the mosques he attended; either actively planned or looked aside at such activity.

That brings to mind our own local Muslim community and its leaders -- Dr. Hossam Fadel, of the Islamic Society of Augusta, foremost among them ("Augusta Muslims say they face suspicion," Nov. 12). Where is the outrage or denunciation required of this act? I have waited two full weeks for evidence of such. But perhaps it is not allowed in a group with such active sympathies for these heinous acts. I suggest Muslims express such outrage soon, if they wish to be defined in their own terms. Otherwise, deeds will overshadow any words they wish to beguile us with in the future.

Don't bother to advise the authorities of my words. As a returning war veteran, the Obama administration likely has already declared me a threat to national security. Sadly, it has not done the same for those whom some Muslims associate with, embrace and shield.

Dewey Galeas

Grovetown

It would appear that the

It would appear that the muslims as agroup approve of such actions as those committed by that coward at Ft Hood. All the muslims fear is reprisal, however, no denunciation.

Where is "Christian"

Where is "Christian" America's apology for waging an unnecessary war of choice in Iraq? That abomination has gone on for 6 years and 8 months. The U.S. war of aggression in Iraq was waged under known false pretenses. Where are the calls to bring those responsible for lying this country into war in Iraq to justice? Where are the denunciations from the pulpits of mainstream Christian churches? Billy Graham has blessed every war that United States launched under Presidents Bush Sr. and Bush Jr.. Where is the denunciation of unjust, immoral, illegal wars from the pulpit of First Baptist Church of Augusta? "Christian" crusaders have plenty of blood on their hands. That is what they will have to answer to God for. I suggest that retired U.S. Army Major Dewey Galeas get the beam out of his own eye.

JohnRandolphHardisonCain on

JohnRandolphHardisonCain on Sat Nov 21, 2009 5:04 AM This was not an unnecessary war Johnthinkingishard..Lets review the facts..(Iknow this bothers the liberals here but it leads to the truth)..Fact one EVERYBODY that means everybody believed Sadam had weapons of mass destruction. From the time when Clinton was in office before Bush was on the horizan until the war..George Teneant the CIA director appointed by CLINTON told George Bush in front of Bernstein of Woodward and Bernstein fame that the Weapons of mass destruction were a "SLAM DUNK" in quote..look it up. Fact Two Sadam repeatly denied the weapons inspectors access to sites they wanted to visit to verify that his weapons had been destroyed..Fact three Sadam repeatly violated his surrender agreement at the end of the gulf war shooting at our aircraft and failing to follow the agreement..I have a question for Johnitishardtothink..where is your outrage at the US attacking Christians in Serbia with no provocation and starting a confict where US troops are still stationed more that 10 years later? What did the Serbs do to ou that you have a right to bomb thier country? OH that was a liberal president that did that...

There was NOT a consensus

There was NOT a consensus among the intelligence community that Saddam possessed WMD. There were those in the CIA who doubted that conclusion. Former Vice President Dick Cheney paid no less than 4 visits to Langley, VA (the home of the CIA) to pressure the agency to issue an unqualified conclusion that Saddam possessed WMD. The Downing Street Memos from July 2002 noted that the Bush admin was "fixing" intelligence around the conclusion that Saddam possessed WMD. In Oct 2002 CIA Director George W. Tenet informed former President George W. Bush that the intelligence which said that Saddam sought yellowcake uranium in Niger was unreliable. Nevertheless that false claim made it back into the State of the Union address in Jan 2003. Bush & Cheney LIED & BULLIED this country into war in Iraq. UN inspectors were on the ground in Iraq doing their job in competent fashion when then President Bush ordered them out of the country so he could comment "shock & awe" bombing of Iraq. The right-wing media vilified the UN inspectors. Shock jock Neal Boortz claimed that Hans Blix (the UN chemical weapons inspector) "couldn't find his [filtered word] with both hands". Bush went to war in Iraq BECAUSE HE COULD!

Johnitiishardtothink, here is

Johnitiishardtothink, here is a list of quotes from various democratic leaders going back to 1998. Snopes of course tries to change the facts but the quotes stand..they include quotes by Al Gore, Clinton etc. Maybe, Bush realizing he would be President, manipulated these people into making these statements..www.snopes.com/politics/war/wmdquotes.asp Tenant was Forced by Bush to say the WMD's were a slam dunk? Don't forget Tenant was a Clinton appointee! Blix was barred from inspecting many sites in Iraq by Sadam..www.carnegieendowment.org/publications/index.cfm?fa=view&id.. This is an interesting article about the real state of the search for WMD prior to the War that goes back to 1998 during the Clinton years...

(Many disagree with you) I do hope you don't start to exercise your freedom of speech like your hero of Ft.Hood did. Your postings are offensive enough.

Maybe just like the Major at

Maybe just like the Major at Ft. Hood, they felt that something you did or said caused them in your words, to be " declared a threat to National Security". Out of thousands of returning soldiers, why would they without just cause, declare you a threat? I noticed that you did not elaborate on the reason or their alleged reason(s) for doing so. I knew that this letter would contain a " Shot" in the direction of the President. I just did not think that it would be in the last few sentences of the letter. Typical Conservative B.S.

There are none so blind as

There are none so blind as those who refuse to see. The libs continue to defend our enemies and attack anything/anyone conservative. prezbho says that Afghanistan is the 'good war'. Could he be the warmonger expecially since he and his fawning followers think that anyone that disagrees is the enemy? If you're not concerned - You're not paying attention...

The major is wrong. How do
Unpublished

The major is wrong. How do Muslins express the outrage? Where do Muslins go to voice their outrage? The American Muslims, much like any minority group in this country, are at a disadvantage and here is why: The major, along with most americans, read & watche information being released through several venues. The gatekeepers, i.e., editors, news directors, sr editors, production, content, packaging, sources, etc, all look & think just like the ol' major. Their ability to be objective is absent. (think after 911 with AWM media in lockstep) So, any muslins wanting to express outrage are silenced because their words will be silenced, thus Americans don't get to hear them. African-Americans, Native Americans and other minority citizens have the same problem. We are portrayed how others allow our voices -or not allow - to be heard. This is why diversity is critical to the strength of the Union and also why getting a different view is so important.

They are too afraid of reprisals. They have it hard enough dealing with the everyday prejudice against them, by the same Americans who tell you they believe in the Constitution and freedom of religion.

Then why aren't they too

Then why aren't they too afraid of reprisals when they ask companies and people to change to accommodate their beliefs? It doesn't seem to bother them to ask the US to accept and change for them.

Cain doesn't hate America. He

Cain doesn't hate America. He simply hates every principle that America was founded on. He's happy that his ancestors killed the natives so that he could live here. He NEVER has answered the question of why he thinks Israel doesn't have the right to exist, yet HE has the right to exist on HIS stolen land. He will likely ignore this post since answering it will reveal his cowardice and hypocrisy.

So Cain.....you hate where

So Cain.....you hate where "right wing warmongers" have taken us? I suppose you would rather we just cave in and do what the Muslim warmongers want us to do? Politically correct or not, our enemies ARE Muslim. I'm not saying all Muslims are terrorists, but so far.....the terrorists that have attacked us have been exclusively Muslim. (With the exception of McVey) You have a choice.....fight and kill them or they will kill you.....unless you intend to convert to Islam. Is that your plan Cain?

There are no peaceful

There are no peaceful Muslims! I have never been predjudiced in my life. Not against anyone, but after everything I've read about what muslims believe, I just can't help it. They won't even tell you that things like killing not muslims isn't true. I've yet to hear one muslim say that isn't true. We are told to live and let live, but they are taught to live and let die. They are fooling a lot of people, but they will no longer fool me. If you are on their side then you might as well be on the side of Satan worshipers too.

Do the Protestants,

Do the Protestants, Catholics, Lutherans, or whoever put a denouncement or apology in the paper when someone of their religion commits a crime? This is essentially what you are asking of the Isamic Society of Augusta. Next whites will need to issue apologies, then blacks, then hispanics. C'mon. I think your request is a bit far fetched. They don't know the guy. Why should they apologize to you? I bet not one of you know a Muslim yet you are judging them all!

JohnQ..... The certainly

JohnQ..... The certainly would if the terroristic act was taken in the name of the religion. These Muslim terrorists aren't just people who are terrorists and also happen to be Muslim. The are carrying out terroristic attacks BECAUSE of their religion. It's no better than the Spanish Inquisition, which Christians worldwide DO condemn. And YES...I know several Muslims so you lost that bet.

I don't expect them to apologize. I want them to say that muslims are not taught to kill non-muslims. I want them to say that this fact is not in their holy book. They can't say that because it is.
