Versatile Wildcat's status questionable for Saturday

ATHENS, Ga. --- Kentucky coach Rich Brooks called receiver/wildcat quarterback/returner Randall Cobb questionable for Saturday's game with Georgia.

The evaluation came after Cobb didn't finish Wednesday's practice because of a bruised shoulder sustained Saturday against Vanderbilt.

Brooks said that Cobb could still play Saturday even if he doesn't practice today because of his knowledge of the offense.

"If he's healthy, he will play," Brooks said. "We just don't want to put him in a position where he could risk further injury or injure something else if he's not full speed."

Cobb has scored 12 touchdowns this season and is third in the Southeastern Conference in all-purpose yardage at 148.1 yards per game.

SEARCHING FOR A SIGN: These days some are watching for any signal from Georgia coach Mark Richt in words or actions to try to determine what changes might be in store after this season.

So perhaps it shouldn't be surprising that Richt's hug with Willie Martinez in the final moments of the Bulldogs' 31-24 win over Auburn Saturday was viewed by some fans as a sign of support for the embattled defensive coordinator.

"I hugged a lot of guys after the game," said Richt, whose team is 6-4 overall. "Willie's not the only guy I hugged. That was a hug game. Some games are shake-your-hand games. That was a hug game."

ESPN2's cameras captured the embrace after the Bulldogs' final defensive stand with 59 seconds left.

Georgia kept Auburn out of the end zone when a fourth-down pass into the end zone fell incomplete.

CHECKING IT OUT: Safety Reshad Jones said he will seek an evaluation from an NFL advisory committee to gauge his draft stock.

The redshirt junior went down to the NFL's deadline day for underclassmen to declare for the draft last January before deciding to return.

"The most accurate way of making my decision is sending my (paperwork) in to the NFL advisory board and see what they think and see what prediction they have on me," said Jones, who has 53 tackles.
