Taken down by 'tolerance'

  • Follow Editorials

We don't need to take up for Lou Dobbs. He's a big boy and can do that for himself. Besides, this isn't really about him.

But the liberal media are doing another hatchet job - character assassination being the mandatory sentence for political correctness heresy.

The ultimate test is, of course, the Saturday Night Live take - which portrayed the former CNN show host as nothing short of a racist and a xenophobe because he opposes illegal immigration.

The humorists aren't alone. Radical Hispanic groups assailed Dobbs for daring to press for border security - and quickly declared victory after his resignation from CNN last week.

Let's be clear about this: The man opposes the breaking of American law and the unsafe, porous border with Mexico. And the liberal media have branded him a racist for it.

So, in the world of the liberal media, there is no difference between opposition to illegal immigration and racism. They are one and the same.

It's not just sad. It's a shot across the bow of anyone who disagrees with liberal orthodoxy and says so publicly.

Ultra-liberal humorist Bill Maher likes to think he represents courageous political incorrectness - but he's one of the chief purveyors of PC. People such as Lou Dobbs are the politically incorrect ones. And we see what happens to them in 2009 America. They get attacked by the forces of "tolerance." And it leaves us all a little less free.

"Dobbs' abrupt exit prompted a victory lap by advocacy groups that had sought his ouster for outspokenness," the Associated Press reported.

Outspokenness. Or at least the wrong kind.

How sad.

Unpublished

Van Jones worked as a specialist on Green Jobs for the W.H. that's commonly called a Czar. Jones went to jail during the Rodney King beating because he saw the injustice done to an American citizen, then a corrupt jury allowed the coward cops to "walk" so Jones acted on his principles and was arrested. During his detainment, Jones made several remarks, referring to a system of police corruption, that ol' G. Beck turned into a crusade. Jones resigned, so character assassination is in order and ol' Lou deserved it. His views can be seen/heard on every channel and all day/night on the non-minority (so-called "public" airwaves) Yep, ol' Lou has had a great run. Others will soon follow...stay tuned.

AC Editorial Sraff, you are

AC Editorial Sraff, you are giving credit for the "forced:" departure of Lou Dobbs from the Fox Network to the wrong folks. So far, the left leaning media has not been able to dislodge the Beck, Hannity and O'Reilly, etal far right wackos from their impenetrable positions on FOX so why would you assume that Dobbs was so easily ousted by the negatives from the commentators on the "Left?" I do not believe that Dobbs is that thin-skinned. However, I do believe that Dobbs was ousted by his own employer; perhaps because enough of the illegals actually support the far right philosphy of the FOX administration, and advertisers were beginning to cringe each time Dobbs began his nutty diatribes against all illegals. Money talks! Money controls who will and who will not represent a network; independence AND commentator license really doesn't apply when the bottom line is threatened. Dobbs, rightfully so, got the "silent" axe from FOX...not from the LEFT!

Money talks! The free flow

Money talks! The free flow of money supports the economy in America and the so-called "illegals" contribute a significant contribution to the health of our economy today. In the end, the preservation of commerce (and by kinship, the preservation of advertising revenue) probably controls who will and who will not represent the FOX network. The freedom of speech, (translated as the independence and license of a network commentator) really doesn't apply when a businesses bottom line is threatened. I propose that Lou Dobbs got the "SILENT" axe from FOX (Murdock) ...not from the LEFT!

And, in conclusion, I would venture to say that Glenn Beck (due to revenue loss through advertising) is standing of thin ice at present&#0133but please note&#0133unlike. Dobbs, Beck's racist comments have not been repeated ad infinitum.

GGAp, Dobbs worked for CNN, not Fox as you state. Here you are making these two long posts with the wrong facts, but that's kind of a liberal thing. Heh, heh, heh. His ratings were high, much higher than others at CNN. It's simply a political matter. If there is any doubt about the ratings and revenue brought in by conservative commentators, I suggest you check again. Fox has higher ratings than CNN and MSNBC combined.

I never herd Dobbs make any

I never herd Dobbs make any negative remarks about legal immigrants. My friend does border patrol in TX. It so bad that he can't even wear his uniform in public, nor tell his neighbors what he does for a living. It's a war zone, that the media will not report.

Speculation. How do we know

Speculation. How do we know Dobbs wasn't the loser in a contract showdown? If he's such a conservative jewel, why doesn't FOX hire him? This editorial and most comments connect IMAGINARY dots. You are googling for straws.

Why do we care that a TV

Why do we care that a TV station....which is run to make money...fired someone because they didnt agree with their views? CNN is a private company...all companies will fire people if they say something in public that is not in alignment with company police...find some real news to talk about.

The "dumbing down of America"

The "dumbing down of America" has been going on in government schools for the past 30 years. Virtually 100% of the supporters of this administration are products (and dupes) of this system. Part of making CNN once again look like all of the other government controlled press is getting rid of their last honest news show. Now we'll be able to turn to a whole slew of shows and get the exact same mantra chanted in unison. How convenient. We'll continue to get brilliant comments from the dupes like, "It has to be true, I've seen it on all the stations". It's no wonder over half of the viewing audience prefers the honesty of FOX as opposed to the government releases of the other stations. Chavez has shown the way to the left.

JUSTUS, Ol Lou as you call
Unpublished

JUSTUS, Ol Lou as you call him, is receiving million dollar offers as we speak I guarantee. My guess is we'll be seeing him on Fox very soon. But congrats on your "non-minority media" idiocy. At least you're consistent. You boast about Van Jones acting on his principles and getting arrested. Funny, people who oppose abortion are acting on their principles and getting arrested at abortion clinics, and I never hear you utter a word in support of them. I guess it's more of that "non-minority media," eh Justus?

Lou Dobbs told the truth,

Lou Dobbs told the truth, which is what those playing God in the white house are not prone to do. ALL illegal immigrants need to be rounded up and DEPORTED--it doesn't matter where they birthed those babies, they are still ILLEGAL immigrants who are bleeding our coffers dry.

TOTAL B.S. Dobbs lied

TOTAL B.S. Dobbs lied repeatedly, embraced the birther nutcases, and fomented anti-immigrant hatred and violence. For example, he insisted that Mexican immigrants brought in 7,000 cases of leprosy to this country, which is patently untrue. In other words, LIES. I signed several petitions to get him removed from CNN and I'm glad I did, even though in the end, I don't think CNN actually had the stones to do it right.

Is it "dumbed down" to resist

Is it "dumbed down" to resist being bombarded with LIES? Since when is the truth "politically correct"? The guy let his anti-immigrant fixation turn him into a caricature of hatred and intolerance. He has no place on any legitimate news network (i.e., I'm sure he'll be signing with Fox soon, if he hasn't already).

What all you bleeding heart

What all you bleeding heart liberals miss about Dobbs is he was not anti mexican or anti immigrant. The whole point of his commentary revolved around the word "illegal". That means, against the law. Lawbreakers. If you don't like the laws governing our treatment of those who cross the border without following procedure, then get the laws changed. Until then, law and order should rule. This idea of selective prosecution of the law cannot stand. BTW, in no other country will you see borders as porus as ours. In no other country, (not even Mexico) will you see the government turn a blind eye to illegal aliens.

I'm just getting sick and

I'm just getting sick and tired of fat guys who complain. They don't do anything after complaining so why should I listen to them in the first place? If Lou Dobbs, Rushbo, Glenn Beck, yes and even Keith Olbermann went out and set a decent example, then their blabbering might get noticed by people who really care.

HotFoot on Tue Nov 17, 2009 9:02 AM When did Dobbs lie about the birther issue? If this is so cut and dried tell me what hospital Obumbler was born in (should not be hard there are only two and even Obumbler contradicts himself)? Dobbs actually had the temerity to let both sides of the birther issue speak....boy what a radical approach to a controversy in the news... Dobbs favors inforcing our immigration laws..how D*MN radical can you get...With Dobbs leaving CNN will actually have several 100,000 less viewers and this is good ...HOW?
