New development on city council agenda

Gardner's Landing, a proposed development along the Savannah River, will be discussed on second reading at the North Augusta City Council meeting tonight.

The development calls for 48 to 65 single-family units and 246 multifamily units on 29.46 acres.

At the first reading Nov. 2, residents of RiverNorth, the community off U.S. Highway 1 that will neighbor Gardner's Landing, opposed the development's proposed use of their entrance as the main access to the neighborhood. They also said the road cannot handle the traffic Gardner's Landing would add.

The 2010 budget is also scheduled to be approved tonight. The council meets at 7 p.m. in the municipal building on Georgia Avenue.
