Anthony and Sharon Ray wanted a spacious home on Augusta's southside, so they had a 3,200-square-foot house built in The Lakes at Spirit Creek in Hephzibah. They moved there in July 2008.
The Lakes at Spirit Creek is conveniently located for the Rays. He is retired from the military and works as a civilian at Fort Gordon, and she is the assistant principal at Sue Reynolds Elementary School.
The home's ample space is perfect for their lifestyles. In the study, Mrs. Ray teaches online classes and Mr. Ray works on his ministry, Real World Ministries.
Mr. Ray is a Chicago native, and Mrs. Ray is from Panama City, Fla., so they frequently play host to out-of-town visitors. They have three guest rooms, each outfitted in neutral and earth tones.
Mrs. Ray said she wanted to create a "simple but elegant," relaxed atmosphere in the sunroom, so she decorated with yellow, gold and blue. The room offers a view of a lake, giving an outdoor feel to the space, Mrs. Ray said.
The great room is comfortable and kid-friendly, perfect for their 3-year-old, Anthony Bryce.
"Open space for Anthony to be running around," Mrs. Ray said.
Large windows in the great room give a view of the lake.
"Especially at night, we'll open the windows and hear the water," Mr. Ray said.
