That homemade Thanks-giving meal and post-holiday favorite, the pumpkin pie, might be in short supply this year. According to news wire reports, floods last year in the Midwest have resulted in shortages of canned pumpkin puree on grocery shelves across the country.

Holiday cooks and pumpkin fiends are blogging about scavenger hunts from store to store while Twittering locations still in stock.

Libby's, the nation's largest canned-pumpkin manufacturer, says the shortage will ease by year's end. Already, shipments have increased, said the Morton, Ill., company.
