What is it?

If you watched the CBS series Medium last Friday, you spotted this week's vehicle. In an episode not-so-subtly titled "New Terrain," the lead character, a psychic, rents a Terrain to replace her wrecked car.

In perhaps the most egregious case of product placement yet seen on TV, the GMC is given star treatment because of its features and the fact that, for some reason, its navigation system tells the driver what is happening in nearby cars.

Chosen randomly from the correct entries was the name of Baringhton Frank, of Plainfield, Ill., who wins a gift from The Augusta Chronicle. Other readers identifying the vehicle were:

AIKEN: Howard Jones said: "What gave it away was the SLE trim level name because that is one of GMC's levels, in addition to SL, SLT and Denali. Also, its 'butch' styling, as Motor Trend magazine reported just last week. It takes the place of the Pontiac Torrent for 2009. I drove a Torrent, and it wasn't bad."

CUMMING, GA.: Chris Rhodes wrote: "The Terrain is the latest iteration of General Motors' small SUV and shares its platform, known internally as the Theta, with the Chevrolet Equinox. However, unlike previous generations of GM products, the Terrain and Equinox are not merely rebadged versions of the same vehicle. Each model carries distinctly different sheet metal and interior layouts. While the Equinox has a very smooth and curvaceous outer skin, the Terrain has a more trucklike posture with squared-off wheel openings and a more upright front fascia, like its larger Acadia and Yukon siblings.

"Given its solid structure, high-quality interior materials and excellent fuel economy, the tough-looking Terrain (and its smooth Equinox sibling) offers a competitive alternative to those buyers looking for an American-branded small SUV."

EVANS: Don Kittilson wrote: "Maybe instead of bringing out new SUVs, GM should look into a new hybrid that runs on red ink." P.J. Rodgers wrote: "It's a 2010 GMC Terrain that has a safety feature that I like: standard rear-vision camera with an LCD monitor built into the rearview mirror."

HEPHZIBAH: Jason Wright

MARTIN, S.C.: Gregory Simmons said: "A nice little truck, offering some good features for a reasonable price. It's got those high fender wells, which leads me to believe it's the Terrain. I'm going to see how GMC does on this one since the Envoy has been discontinued."

WARRENTON, GA.: Joel Ramsey

NO CITY LISTED: Terrall Putnam and David Moyer.

THIS WEEK'S CONTEST

Can you tell us the year, make and model of this vintage vehicle? For example, you might say, "It's a 1915 Stutz Bearcat," but you would be way off. We will tell you that this particular car is a convertible but that many other body styles were available.

E-mail glynn.moore@augustachronicle.com or call (706) 823-3419. You have until noon Wednesday to respond.

Tell us your name (and spell it), telephone number and city or community.

Feel free to pass along any comments about this vehicle. A winner will be chosen randomly. Thanks.
