Coin club show

A Fall Coin Show will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Belair Conference Center, 4083 Singh Lane.

The show is sponsored by the Augusta Coin Club. Admission and parking are free.

Walking at dawn

A Dawn Walk will take place at 5:30 a.m. Saturday at Phinizy Swamp Nature Park, 1858 Lock and Dam Road.

The cost is $3 for Southeastern Natural Sciences Academy members and $5 for nonmembers. The registration deadline is today.

An Irish evening

An Evening of Irish Music and Storytelling with Silent Auction Featuring Solstice will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1501 Monte Sano Ave.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Augusta State University 2010 Ireland Study Abroad Program. Lillie Morris will be performing on the fiddle and vocals and Mike Hay will perform on the uilleann pipes, tin whistle and guitar.

There will also be a variety of auction items available, some from Ireland.

Tickets are $10 at the door.

ASU film series

The Augusta State University Fall Film Series will conclude at 7 p.m. Monday in University Hall, Room 170, 2500 Walton Way.

The final movie shown will be the documentary Food Inc. , rated PG, which provides a look at the food industry in the United States.

Sierra meeting

The monthly meeting of the Sierra Club will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Augusta at 3501 Walton Way Extension.

The public is invited to view a new National Sierra Club documentary on the effects of mountaintop mining for coal.

The 2009 Christmas Fantasy Parade will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, on Broad Street in Augusta.

Nominees sought

Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia is seeking nominations for the 2010 Women of Distinction awards.

Candidates are selected based on their accomplishments, leadership, impact on the community and effectiveness as role models for girls and women.

The deadline for nominations is Friday, Dec. 11.

Award recipients will be recognized at a luncheon May 13.
