I'm truly sorry for the loss of lives at Ft. Hood. It was wrong on so many levels. But can anyone tell me why someone getting a $400,000 life insurance policy check will also need a college fund as a memorial? How much is enough?

Merry's outburst did not violate agreement
Richmond County Solicitor Harold V. Jones II says public activist Woody Merry might have displayed bad behavior at last week's City Commission meeting, but it did not violate court restrictions from an altercation last year.
The Solicitor's Office interviewed commissioners and the mayor about Mr. Merry's outburst at a budget hearing Thursday, part of an effort to determine whether the activist violated the agreement to behave himself at public meetings.

I'm truly sorry for the senseless loss of lives at Ft. Hood. It was wrong on so many levels. But can anyone tell me why someone getting a $400,000 life insurance policy check will also need a college fund as a memorial? How much is enough?
NEone, I don't think it's an issue of the family WANTING to get all they can get, rather I think it's an issue of people just wanting to do what they can to offer some sort of help to them. No, the family probably doesn't need the money, but giving money is an easy and fast way for people who are concerned to offer their help.
That money takes a while to get to the family.Mean while, they still have bills to pay and groceries to buy." Enough",would be their family member back home safe! Why is this space ALWAYS full of people being so negative?
Some people have such a vacuum from their waste evacuation orifice that it just naturally sucks their head in giving them a permanent case of optical rectitus!
NEone. Do you know for a fact that his family is getting that amount? You have to choose to get it. Many soldiers do not choose that level of coverage. If you don't wish to donate to the fund, then don't donate to the fund. I feel for you that you'd feel envious of the DeCrow Family.
it is sad that you feel that way, i am glad all people are not like you. just maybe it is like when the shooting happen in virginia and they took up for the young guys family that got shot and killed. duh.

For some reason I don't believe Larry Antwan Sanders story. He should have been in jail not at a bar getting shot like he claims.
$400,000. If he earned $40,000 that would last for 10 years. If she invests it and gets 4%, you are talking about $16,000 per year, which is about minimum wage. His widow is 38 years old. She has a life expectancy of nearly 50 years. What is she supposed to do when the money runs out? Nobody has ever said "My spouse had way too much life insurance when he died, I don't know how I'll spend all this money". It's disgusting for anyone to think that she has a lot of money. No amount of money could ever be enough to compensate them for what they have lost.
NEone... i dont think it is any of your heartless business..... People would like to reach out to this family and other families to help in their loss.. Keep your useless comments to yourself....
Though the family will receive benefits for years to come, no amount of money will be enough to replace SSGT DeCrow. To anyone looking at a lump sum of $100,000 or more as a large amount of money, you are sadly mistaken. To someone thinking that the mother can go to work before the money runs out, you are also wrong. I really get upset when people try to put a dollar amount on a human life. Mrs. DeCrow will receive benefits so long as she doesn't remarry. The children will also receive benefits and compensation, and may even get educational benefits. Is that enough? No. It really isn't because none of that brings back their father. In the coming weeks they have to adjust to more than just SSGT DeCrow's absence. They also have to prepare for a sudden and unexpected household goods move while dealing with their loss. The money simply is not enough. If you don't like it, don't donate.
I hope that all the resources that are possible will be used for the DeCrow family's benefit.
Regarding Woody Merry. I am so glad that they haven't made a mountain out of a mole hill. It's bad enough they shot him down before he could finish what he had to say. That had to be nerve-wracking. Why didn't they let him know he was running out of time as is usual procedure? Anybody would have been rattled if they were treated like he was treated. Can't say that I blame him.
re;school vandalism, why not name all 5 plus give parents names and addresses perhaps a little exposure would encourage to look after their kids a little.accountability is what this country needs,if the panerts cant take the peer pressure perhaps they will move
