Rants and raves

A RANT TO THOSE DRIVERS who feel the need to literally stop to stare at a traffic accident, thus backing up traffic for miles. Whatever it was that happened is none of your business. Your rubbernecking backs up traffic unnecessarily. Please keep on driving at normal highway speeds.

I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW how the people in Horse Creek Valley appreciate the Burnettown Police Department now. This little group of "Barney Fifes" love to hide behind every dip and hill to catch people coming home from work, church, or taking their kids to school and write them speeding tickets.

THE NORTH AUGUSTA Parks and Rec Department needs to review the officiating of the Gray Jackets-Gold Jackets game Wednesday night. Those particular referees should not be allowed to officiate another game. Don't take a grudge with the coach out on the kids!

DID ANYONE NOTICE that in the World Series neither ballpark has any bunting up? Would you consider this un-American or just a sign of the times under Obama?

BASED ON THE week's elections (local, state and national), we can say that change is coming. Democracy will return to Washington after the 2010 and the 2012 elections!

SEE WHAT WE STARTED with one atomic bomb in Japan? Now everybody wants one.

THE LETTER-WRITER who demonized homosexuality has obviously not reviewed the scientific data on this subject. It is a proven fact that homosexuals are born that way. Let's give homosexuals the same civil rights, including the right to marry, as all the rest of us enjoy.

MAJOR RANT HERE: Why is it our children are NOT allowed to say "Under God" in our schools, but my son's teacher gave him a Quran to take home and read? I am beside myself that a teacher would be allowed to do this! In this great country, where my husband has served in our military for most of his life, and where my child can't say "God" without fear of punishment.

THE IS A RESPONSE to bubblesup: At least you got a raise! I am a state employee, and we haven't had a raise in three years and we are having to take furlough days. So, if it is such a "measly raise," I will take it if they don't want it!

A HUGE RAVE to Dixie Lock and Safe! They will come unlock a car door for free when there's a child locked in the car. Thanks again for your goodwill!
