hussein has declared the U.S. as a muslim nation.change we can believe in...... mmm mmm mmm obama
Why do people who oppose anything representing Christianity have their way if they claim to be offended? Can I have the same effect if I am offended by the lack of Christianity being acknowledged publicly in any place or time desired?
By what authority is their being offended deemed as a position to be honored by the rest of us?
Who is doing it? But then, don't we all know?
Paul Balducci

hussein has declared the U.S. as a muslim nation.change we can believe in...... mmm mmm mmm obama
If a conservative is a non-believer, he does not go to church. A liberal wants any mention of God or religion silenced.
You have asked a very general question, Mr Balducci. No real way to answer it. If you are talking about a religious activity held on public property as part of a government sponsored event, many times the people offended have the courts behind them. I don't have to agree with it, the judges say its the law. If you're talking about folks not liking it when you say grace over your food when in a public restaurant, just make sure to include them in the prayer.
This letter is practically unintelligible. No, Mr. Balducci, we don't "all know" who is "doing" whatever it is you claim they're "doing". I have no desire to prevent the exercise of your religion, whatever it might be, as long as it does not harm anyone. However, our government does not espouse any religion and public institutions cannot be perceived to espouse it. You can pray all day, just don't disturb the peace. And don't let your proselytizing infringe on other people's rights. It's not that difficult, really. In any case, your persecution complex doesn't help anything.
once 'pon a time, our forefathers came here from across the ocean to escape religious persecution, exorbitant taxes, and oppressive governments. looks like we've come full circle. what's that saying? those that do not learn from their mistakes are doomed to repeat them? well, we're definitely in repeat mode. unfortunately, there is no "new" world to run off to anymore.
The Constitution talks about freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion.
so, hot foot, do you oppose the muslim religion since they seem to be hell-bent on destroying your western world?
Well xanadu, why don`t you enlighten us about the Muslim religion. Bet you haven`t a clue what you are talking about. Baptists, Catholics, Mormans all have worldwide programs to convert religions to their own. Muslims are no different. They just want us to see the light before "it`s too late". If you are talking about the "extremists", they are available in any religion, color or creed your little heart desires. Which one you wanta jump on next, after all, "might makes right" doesn`t it.....
IB53, if you don't understand the difference between sharing something and force feeding it under threat of subjugation and death, you really have missed out on things the past decade or two. There is no institutionalized restriction or persecution of Muslims in this country. Even 'artists' don't mock Islam, to say nothing of the respect shown by Hollywood. You might contrast that with is going on vis a vis Christianity-- in a nation that, by far, the majority claim to be some form of Christian. practicing or not. The minority is ruling the expressions of faith by the majority. Why shouldn't Christmas be observed publically? No one is forced to participate, and what's wrong with simply showing a little respect for your fellow Americans? Virtually any religious group could legally hold public observances-- even the Wiccans did in a city park. Why shouldn't Christians be allowed the same rights? Because some "enlightened" and powerful politicians, judges and activists don't find the message appealing and have no fear of being attacked by us? Let's see the cowards level that kind of mockery and harrassment at Muslims and followers of Wakantanka if it's all about fairness.
Christianity is the primary religion of this nation and the founding fathers of this nation. The fact that anti-Americans have instituted laws and rules that make attacking and banning all things Christian legal in this country, makes Christianity the only unprotected religion in America.
Brilliant post, HotFoot. So convoluted. You must be proud.
I personally think that institutionalized religion has been the number one cause of violence, genocide, persecution, and oppression through the ages. It is no different now. Name a major religion that has NOT fallen victim to these temptations--Islam and Christianity, included! Power corrupts, and religion is a particularly divisive and potent weapon in the subjugation of others. I have absolutely no problem with people practicing their religion, but when it is sanctioned by the State, it becomes a danger.
What a load of b.s., WP. Just keep shoveling.
Hot Foot, as a Christian, I take the "we all know who is doing it" to be Satan. I don't think he's picking on who you think he is.
I know you like those buzz words spewed by the "change America" crowd, but doesn't your 8:09 post mean that when people of a common belief meet another group with a different belief (no matter how small the difference) there is conflict? Isn't there a difference between practicing a religion and forcing the practice of a religion? Can you spot the difference? I bet you'd be attracted to the non-religious sect with a religious name....Unitarian Church.
Fiat Lux you misunderstood where I was coming from and I think HotFoot is a much closer idea to what I had in mind. I personally don`t care who does what in regard to religion, just don`t try to push it on me...I`ll practice as appropriotly as possible and if I step on some toes then maybe they are standing a little too close. I don`t care how you do it, just leave me and mine alone...organized religion has caused more pain and suffering than any other scourge on man.
WP, don't think HF is into analyzing much of anything. He has his opinions to keep him going. Why bother with anything more enlightened?
Fiat Lux, HotFoot is a female from the unionized upper midwest that feels every social thought put forth by the government school system is her god's actual word. For all I know, it may be. I just disagree with her parroting. She's a confirmed fence straddler.
JB53, unfortunately a lot of people who talk just like you have decided that even to see a manger scene in a public place is offensive and an attempt to force Christianity on the public. But we absolutely MUST PROTECT public indecency and pornographic 'art' as free speech. And how about a break from the standard liberal, agnostic mantra about "organized religion has caused more pain..." Even if that were true and possible to prove, which it is not (think Stalin and Hitler and Chairman Mao), everyone knows the chant already.
I don't think there's a much better understanding of the tenets of the Muslim, Islam, and Christian religions than there are of the tenets of Maxism, Socialism, and Communism which have been thrown around so freely in previous comments. Just repeating words used by Glenn and Rush do not make you knowledgeable.
WP, why in the world would somebody like that (form 8:23 post) care what goes on in Augusta, GA? It's bad enough having to deal with all the local dimwits and ignorati.
706: GET A GRIP, dude. We already know this stuff. And, BTW, it ain't just "probably" about the government having access to all health records, This abominatin of a bill will also give the government direct and unrestricted access to your bank account.
We must be careful not to offend those who are on the highway to hell. Very simply, they hear the message of Christianity, but they reject it. They have no hope, nor do they want hope. We are creatures of free will, our God created us that way. Even God does not force Christianity on any one, he gives us the choice. However, those of us who are smart have chosen to follow a risen saviour. It is the only road map to get out of this world safely.
I doubt that people who support Rush and Glenn know Jesus Christ, although they claim to be christians. We as Christians are more like the pharises - not Christ.
Speak for yourself, FormerAugRes. Just because you are like that doesn't mean more than a few of the rest of us are.
We are our own enemy. I believe in Christianity and recognize God as the savior of the world. Besides God, there is NO other god... Our poor behavior is used as evidence before the world that Americans are very bold hypocrits, especially to Muslims. The US has the highest teen pregnancy rate in the entire free world. The world witnesses our racial attitudes towards our own President, but then we send him into Muslim nations to demand racial equality that he struggles to receive at home. There are churches that will not congregate with blacks right here in Augusta, but they profess this as a form of righteousness. Although 85% of Americans say they believe in God.... We can no longer protect children from being sex targets by teachers, lawmakers, & other people of authority. We foolishly want people to go to jail over hurting dogs, and give the right to kill unborn children by abortion. We have strayed so far from God that we pledge alligiance to political parties and accept every bit of their unrighteousness towards defenseless citizens just like the Taliban does. We see the wrong in people of the world, but never the hypocrisy of ourselves. We as Christians have failed God.
Amen maninthemirror. That is why the Christians don't get upset and call folks names because they have security. That empty spot that others are trying to fill with money, enterntainment or something else causes them to be upset with Christians. That empty part of their life cannot be satisfied except through a relationship with Christ. Christ drew people to himself through love and miracles. That still works today. Christ said His followers would be hated.
