GAINESVILLE, Fla. --- No. 1 Florida didn't do much to erase all the negative vibes from a rough week for the defending national champions.
Tim Tebow accounted for two touchdowns, Caleb Sturgis kicked two field goals and the Gators beat Vanderbilt 27-3 in a lackluster effort Saturday night.
Florida fans looking for something positive following linebacker Brandon Spikes' one-game suspension for dirty play and coach Urban Meyer's hefty fine for criticizing officials may have been disappointed.
The Gators (9-0, 7-0 Southeastern Conference) extended their winning streak to 19 games overall -- and their streak against Vandy (2-8, 0-6) to 19 games, too.
TENNESSEE 56, MEMPHIS 28
In Knoxville, Tenn., Jonathan Crompton threw for a career-high 331 yards and five touchdowns and ran for another as Tennessee routed Memphis. Crompton finished 21 for 27.
MISSISSIPPI 38, NORTHERN ARIZONA 14
In Oxford, Miss., Jevan Snead threw for 235 yards and two touchdown passes and rushed for two more scores as the Rebels posted a nonconference win.
KENTUCKY 37, EASTERN KENTUCKY 12
In Lexington, Ky., Morgan Newton threw his first two career touchdown passes and three other Wildcats ran for scores as Kentucky extended its nonconference winning streak to a school-record 18 games.
AUBURN 63, FURMAN 31
In Auburn, Ala., Chris Todd threw for 256 yards and four TDs, completing his first 14 passes, as Auburn cruised to an easy win over the Football Championship Subdivision team.
