THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Helen Young Chafin, 89, widow of Mr. Marshall Howard Chafin, entered into rest Friday, November 06, 2009 at Thomson Health & Rehabilitation. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, November 7, in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens with Rev. Ben Walker officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. before the service. Mrs. Chafin was a native of Winfield, Alabama, and had lived in Thomson for over 50 years. She was employed at Kingsley Mill for many years and retired from UniRoyal. She was a member of Young Memorial United Methodist Church. Survivors include step-children, Patsy C. Foster and Davis Chafin, both of Savannah; sister-in-law, Curtis R. Chafin, Augusta; special friends, Jane and Bill Appling, Thomson; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Chafin was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ellen Young and her brother, Fred Young, Jr., of Winfield Alabama. Friends may call at the Curtis Funeral Home.
