SUMMERVILLE, S.C.--- Authorities say a baby sitter in South Carolina watching a 3-year-old girl who died in her care beat the girl with a belt after she used the bathroom on the floor.
Investigators told The Post and Courier of Charleston that 23-year-old Erica Butts is charged with homicide by child abuse in Serenity Richardson's death. Doctors say she had bruises over most her body and a large burn on her right leg.
Authorities say Ms. Butts was watching the child for Ieshia Richardson, a friend who was trying to move to South Carolina from Detroit.

It's actually very common for abusers to beat their children for having bathroom accidents. With the babies, it's crying. With the preschoolers, it's bathroom accidents.
If that baby had been MY child, there would have been no need to lock that baby sitter up! You could have just called the coroner!!
How does one beat a child to death with a belt? That must have been an awful experience for that toddler.
If she is found guilty, I hope she gets the death penalty. I am sick and tired of people slaughtering kids.
A child dies from a beating either a) bleeding to death internally b) rupturing their spleen or other internal organ c)falling and hitting their head while it's happening. Just like adults.
