AVERA, Ga. - Hilda O. Gipson, 81, wife of the late John Henry "Jake" Gipson, entered into rest Tuesday, November 3, 2009, at University Hospital. The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home this evening, Friday, November 6, 2009 from 7:00-9:00PM. Funeral services will be at 3:00PM on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Avera GA with Revs. Donald Lumpkin, Chris New and Stacey Williford officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Gipson was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Avera GA and a 30-year retiree from Atwell Pecan Company in Wrens GA. Her two great passions- the first was her needlework-she made all of her grands blankets, and that included her grand, great-grand and great- great-grandchildren; the second was her cooking and baking, especially for all the "grands". She was a woman of compassion and her greatest love was for her family and friends. Mrs. Gipson was preceded in death by her parents, Rannie Mae and Marvin Rogers and three brothers, Edward Rogers, Jimmy Rogers and Gordon Rogers. Her survivors include her three daughters, Colleen Chalker, Watertown NY, Teresa (Bobby) Williams, Gibson GA, and Claudia (Larry) Davis, Martinez GA; one brother, Royce (Mary) Rogers, Summerville SC; ten grandchildren, Barry (LaDonna) Chalker, Angela (John) Sebastian, Wendy (Ryan) Schmidt, Billy (Leonna) Chalker, Steve (Meg) Williams, Brandie (Billy) Pearson, Kristi (Peter) Ankrom, Tina (Patrick) Latte, Carla Hamilton, and Julie Tintor; 38 great-grandchildren; and 5 great- great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Joseph Beggs, Barry Chalker, Billy Chalker, Josh Chalker, Justin Chalker, Billy Pearson, John Sebastian and Steven Williams. Honorary memorials may be made to Concerned Citizens of Glascock County (Cancer Society), c/o Corene Chalker, 3037 Bastonville Rd, Gibson GA 30810. James Funeral Home-Wrens, GA.
