Oysters on Telfair
The fifth annual Oysters on Telfair will be at 7 p.m. today at the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art, 506 Telfair St.
There will be a silent auction of original art, raw and steamed oyster bars, a bayou feast, bluegrass music by the Crosstie Walkers and a full bar. Raffle tickets will be sold for antiques, silver and art.
Tickets cost $65, or $50 for ages 35 and younger. Proceeds benefit the institute. For information or to buy tickets, call (706) 722-5495.
First Thursday
First Thursday at Midtown Market will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at 2113 Kings Way.
There will be music by Eryn Eubanks and the Family Fold, adult beverages and snacks, and new art by local and regional artists. Members of the CSRA Humane Society will be on hand with information on pet adoptions. They will also accept food donations and offer raffle tickets for a $250 shopping spree at Midtown Market.

Computer camp
The 2009 Augusta Code Camp will be from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Augusta State University, 2500 Walton Way.
The camp will feature more than 25 free software development sessions and demonstrations. It will include a light breakfast, box lunch and giveaways of books, software licenses and other items. Campers can participate in a book swap by bringing used technical resources.

Church bazaar
A Fall Bazaar will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Mark United Methodist Church, 2367 Washington Road.
The bazaar will feature a White Elephant sale, a bake sale, holiday crafts, a casserole sale and a silent auction, as well as books, toys, candles, jewelry and more.
A half-price clearance sale on White Elephant items excluding crafts will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.

First aid for dogs
A Dog First Aid Class will be offered from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the American Red Cross of Augusta, 1322 Ellis St.
The class includes how to recognize symptoms and care for common ailments and emergencies and provides instructions for creating a pet first aid kit, giving medications and how to recognize emergencies.
