MARIETTA, Ga. - Sam H. Smith, 84, of Marietta died Monday, November 2, 2009. A Celebration of Life will be held 10:00 AM Friday, November 6th at the Chapel of Mayes-Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta. Burial will follow at 1:30 PM in Georgia National Cemetery, Canton. Mr. Smith was a 1946 graduate of the United States Military Academy (West Point). He served in the Strategic Air Command of the USAF. He worked in several capacities at Lockheed-Georgia, and at retirement was serving as the Safety Engineering Department manager. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Charlotte. Survivors include: daughter, Samee Ellerbee (Steve) of Augusta, son, Clay Smith (Debbie) of Marietta, and granddaughters Allie, Lauren and Sarah. Family will receive friends Thursday 5-8 PM at the funeral home.
