Georgia probably picked a good week to be without the Southeastern Conference's leading receiver.
A.J. Green , who leads the conference with 44 catches and 732 yards receiving, will miss Saturday's game against FCS opponent Tennessee Tech after suffering a rib injury in last week's loss to Florida.
Offensive coordinator Mike Bobo said he expects Green to return for the Bulldogs' Nov. 14 game against Auburn.
"The trainers said it's one of those things where he was going to have to sit out a week, and we are very pleased it's only a week," Bobo said.
With Green sidelined, Bobo said Rantavious Wooten would join Tavarres King as starters in a two-receiver set.
GEORGIA TECH: The team usually wears white jerseys at home. The Yellow Jackets will have to call a fashion audible for Saturday's game against Wake Forest.
Most teams wear dark jerseys for home games, and ACC rules require the visiting team to go along with any change in that protocol. The Demon Deacons are the first opponent this season at Bobby Dodd Stadium to object, so Georgia Tech will have to make a decision. Blue tops? Or gold?
Coach Paul Johnson says he'll let the players decide, but one thing the Yellow Jackets won't be wearing is gold jerseys and gold pants. Johnson says he doesn't want his team looking like "giant french fries."
FLORIDA: Coach Urban Meyer believes SEC officials missed a late hit on Tim Tebow in Saturday's game against Georgia.
Meyer said Wednesday the crew calling the game should have flagged Bulldogs linebacker Nick Williams for knocking his quarterback to the ground well after he had gotten rid of the football.
Meyer sent video of the play to Rogers Redding , the league's coordinator of officials. Meyer declined to reveal what the SEC told him, saying he didn't "want to step out of line."
SOUTH CAROLINA: Coach Steve Spurrier said starting defensive end Cliff Matthews could miss up to three weeks with a shoulder injury.
Matthews, a junior who started all nine games this season, is tied for fourth on the team with 39 tackles, which leads all defensive linemen.
He'll be replaced in the starting lineup by freshman Devin Taylor .
FLORIDA STATE: Bobby Bowden is hoping that his starting quarterback can get back to practice soon as Florida State prepares Saturday's game at Clemson.
Bowden said that Christian Ponder did not practice Monday or Tuesday and was limited to a few gentle lobs on the sidelines as he recovers from bruised ribs suffered in last weekend's win over North Carolina State.
Bowden said Ponder, who ranks third nationally in total offense, is still sore. Redshirt freshman E.J. Manuel has been taking practice snaps in Ponder's absence.
CONNECTICUT: A Hartford man has been charged with lying to police investigating the stabbing death of cornerback Jasper Howard .
UConn Police Lt. Andrew Fournier says 18-year-old De'Quan Muhammad was arrested and charged with making a false statement, hindering prosecution and interfering with an officer.
BOWLS: The replacement for the Cotton Bowl game has been lined up.
Dallas city leaders said the Dallas Football Classic is planned for New Year's Day 2011. The plan calls for using teams from the Big Ten to play teams from Conference USA and the Big 12 on a rotating basis.
The Cotton Bowl game is moving to the new Cowboys Stadium in Arlington this season.
