AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Golden Living Center - Windemere. Mrs. Dorothy Mae Jackson Williams was born May 23, 1912 in McDuffie County to the late Mattie and Edward Jackson. She was the last of nine children to be called to her heavenly home. At an early age, she was baptized at the First Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Appling, GA where she was a dedicated member. After moving to Augusta, Georgia, she joined Elim Baptist Church by letter under the pastorate of the late Reverend Robert L. Boyd. She was a faithful member on the Usher Board, in Sunday School and in Prayer Service and Bible Study. She was especially faithful to the works of the Senior Mission Society and the Golden Ages luncheons until her health declined. She never refused a chance to work in the church with the youth activities, helping out with Vacation Bible School, in the kitchen after Sunday Services or during special activities because of being too busy or too tired. It gave her great joy and a sense accomplishment to do God's will. She always put Christ first in everything she did. Dorothy was united in matrimony to the late Deacon Willie Williams, Sr. and to this union four children were born: Willie (Veronica) Williams, Jr, Greenville, TN; daughters, Kathryn M. Williams (Joseph) Gandy, Modesto, CA, Fanny B. Williams (Charles) Booker, Augusta, GA, and D. Berenice Williams (Tony) Williams, Grovetown, GA; grandchildren; Karl T. D. Williams, Sabrina S. Booker (Stephen) Reynolds, WarKenda G. Williams (Brendan) Casey, Voltrina D. Williams (Keith) Hawes, Waninahi L. Williams, DeVeata B. Williams and R. Tyeler Williams. Rashard V. Williams, preceded her in death; great grandchildren, A. Nicole Williams, twin great granddaughters, Deirdre and Gabrial Casey; great grandsons, Declan Casey, W. D. Jordan Hawes and Chandler R. Hawes; many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Homegoing celebration will be conducted Thursday, November 5, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. from Elim Baptist Church, 2359 Mt. Auburn Street, Augusta, GA with Reverend C. D. Roberts officiating. Interment will be in Mount Olive Memorial Gardens. Friends may call the residence or W. H. Mays Mortuary, 1221 James Brown Boulevard, Augusta, GA 30901 (706) 722-6401.
