Since President Obama was elected by the people of this great country and is supposed to act in their best interests, I have a challenge for him.
I challenge him to write his version of the health-care bill that fills his needs. Write this in official language so that the Congressional Budget Office can put accurate dollars to its cost.
When this is done, ask the Republican side of Congress to do the same. Make both bills/CBO estimates available for the public to read and understand.
Then, take some money from the unspent billions from his stimulus package and use this money to fund a nationwide vote by all eligible voters on which bill they approve!
It's time to put our tax dollars where his mouth is!
Let the people who elected him have a voice in their health care.
Believe it or not, a vast majority of us can walk and chew gum at the same time! The charge of illiteracy is greatly exaggerated, and we are capable of making decisions regarding our welfare!
When a winner is chosen, Obama should see to it that no earmarks or riders are attached, and he should pledge to sign the bill as is!

Taking a firm stand or an easily understood, clearly explained position is EXACTLY what they don't wish to do. That stand, alone, should be enough to make you suspicious of their actions. They are using deceit and misdirection for a reason.
I thought the CONServatives already had a bill? Please don't tell me that after all these months of complaining, they haven't put pen to paper. Maybe James could tell us when the last referendum was placed on a ballot for a national election. I believe that type of action is called an amendment. In our constitutional form of government we have elected representatives in Congress (the law making part of our nation) that are voted in by the majority of Americans. In conclusion, it would appear that the majority of americans have expressed their opinion about healthcare already by voting and I see no reason to ask them again just because a member of the minority is overly happy to pay outlandish prices for healthcare.
dissman obama ran on health care WITHOUT PUBLIC OPTION. everyone wants somekind of reform but the vast majority of voters would like their representatives to perhaps read the bill and know whats in it. JUST because they voted for health care reform they did not give obama or congress permission to do ANYTHING they wantedto.. be realistic. we now have a congrss that doesnt read or even understand whats in these bills ie.. stimulus bill, cap/trade bill and health care bill. theses bills will bankrupt us and change our very economic basis i dont recall obama or anyone telling us last fall that was their intent.
Dissman, evidently you still have your head up your derriere, as the Republicans/conservatives DO have various plans. However, they can't get past the DImocRAT closed, locked doors to have them considered. Yes, Americans voted for a string of lies cloaked in "hope" and "change" and had no clue as to what the result would be and now is. Looks to me like the Ameircan people are against the DIM version of health care reform . Rasmussen poll:Oct 30-31 54% aoppose with 42% agree on health care reform. 57% oppose the "public option" (gov't run) with only 37% supporting it. The DIMs can cram this down our throats now, but come 2010 and 2012, they will pay a severe price, and 2010 is less than a year away. As for a minority being willing to pay high costs for insurance, the current proposed Pilosi and Baucus bills will cost even MORE in taxes, if nothing else. More is still more and I had rather give it to private busineeses than the government that wastes it.
I dont give a crap about the healthcare, I want job growth, we need job growth, JOBS you darn dummies in Washington!
