Georgia running back Washaun Ealey says he doesn't think Florida linebacker Brandon Spikes should be suspended for apparently trying to gouge Ealey's eyes in Saturday's game.

Florida coach Urban Meyer on Monday suspended Spikes for the first half of this week's game against Vanderbilt after the defensive captain stuck his hand in Ealey's helmet and appeared to try to stick in fingers in Ealey's eyes.

Ealey says he doesn't agree with those who have said the suspension was not stiff enough. He said on Tuesday Spikes "shouldn't, I think, get suspended at all."

Top-ranked Florida beat Georgia 41-17. On Monday, Spikes issued an apology, saying there "is no excuse for my actions."

SOUTH CAROLINA: Safety Chris Culliver will miss Saturday's game against Arkansas.

Coach Steve Spurrier said Tuesday that Culliver's left shoulder is still bothering him. But the coach also said he is angry the junior didn't report how sore his shoulder was before last Saturday's game against Tennessee.

CLEMSON: Tight end Michael Palmer says he's clear-headed and ready for Florida State, two weeks after suffering a concussion against Miami. Palmer sat out last Saturday's 49-3 win over Coastal Carolina as he recuperated.

FLORIDA STATE: Longtime defensive coordinator Mickey Andrews is retiring after four decades of coaching and 26 years as one of Bobby Bowden 's assistants. The architect of defenses that helped the Seminoles win two national titles in the 1990s, Andrews announced his plans to retire Tuesday.

AUBURN: With his neck immobilized by a brace, safety Zac Etheridge spoke to reporters Tuesday, three days after a scary neck injury. He said his fifth vertebrae was cracked and he sustained pulled ligaments in his neck in a head-first collision with teammate Antonio Coleman .

Etheridge said he wants to play again and doctors told him he should be able to.
