The Madness starts after a football or basketball game.
Caleb Meeks, 17, a senior at Augusta Christian Schools is the coordinator of Midnight Madness.
Midnight Madness happens sporadically after a football game or later in the year, a basketball game. The purpose of Midnight Madness is for students to be a part of a fun event while hearing about Jesus.
"The purpose of the entire event is for students to come, have a great time being with friends, eating, playing games, listening to awesome speakers, and worshipping God," Caleb, also a member of Kiokee Baptist Church, said.
Meeks says that the whole idea of Midnight Madness came through alumni Micah Herriman and Jonathan Gibbs last year.
"A group of students at Augusta Christian had a vision of changing the school and the city through Midnight Madness. They wanted to create an event that was fun for everyone and worship centered," Caleb says.
Many churches around the Augusta area have helped with the production of Midnight Madness by donating food and supplies for the event. Augusta Christian has been a main contributor, allowing Caleb to use their faculties for the event.
"God has really provided a lot for Midnight Madness through local churches," Caleb said.
The entertainment for Midnight Madness consists of crazy games and powerful worship lead by various praise bands. The speakers are generally youth pastors, however, Caleb will be speaking at several throughout the year.
Midnight Madness is also focusing on a missions project this year. The missions project is Blood: Water Mission, which builds wells in Africa.
"They give clean water to children and adults who would die otherwise," Caleb said.
The students' goal for Midnight Madness is $1000. So far, $300 has already been raised. The next Midnight Madness event will be Dec. 5.
