Lady Jaguars are fourth after Day 1
In Austin, Texas, the Augusta State women's team turned in a respectable 7-over-par 287 in the first round of the Challenge of Onion Creek.
However, the Lady Jaguars and the rest of the field couldn't keep pace with University of San Francisco, which opened with 15-under 265.
San Francisco has a 18-shot lead over second-place Texas State. Augusta State is in fourth place, 22 shots behind San Francisco, but only four shots out of second place.
The field has only 18 holes to catch San Francisco. The final round is today.
Sarah Mooney and Julia Stalbro led Augusta State with even-par 70s, placing them in a tie for fourth place individually. Natalie Wille had 73 and is tied for 41st place, and Jordyn Hage had 74 and is tied for 54th.
The team's non-counter was Tamara Luccioci , who had 75 which included a hole-in-one on the par-3 seventh hole at Onion Creek.
- The PGA Tour says Doug Barron has been suspended one year for using a performance-enhancing drug. He is the first player to violate the doping policy since testing began in July 2008.
Barron has not played a full PGA Tour schedule since 2006 and competed only four times on the Nationwide Tour this year.
Under its policy, the tour announces only when a player tests positive and the length of suspension. It does not say what drug was used.

USC Aiken guard is on Peach Belt team
USC Aiken senior guard Kendra Chandler has been named to the Peach Belt's preseason all-conference team.
The Aiken native was joined by Ciara Lyons and Shannon McKever of Lander; Shannon Singleton-Bates of Francis Marion; Phebe Smith of Columbus State and LeSheria Stevens of Clayton State.
Chandler, who averaged 13 points and 6.2 rebounds last year, could become the fourth USC Aiken women's player to reach 1,000 points and 500 rebounds in a career. She has 643 points and 392 rebounds.

Notre Dame star tops preseason list
Notre Dame senior forward Luke Harangody was the leading vote-getter on The Associated Press' preseason All-America team.
The 6-foot-8 Harangody received 57 votes from the 65-member national media panel and was followed in the balloting by Kansas teammates Cole Aldrich and Sherron Collins .
Junior forwards Patrick Patterson of Kentucky and Kyle Singler of Duke rounded out the team.

Keselowski to take wheel for Penske
Brad Keselowski will start his new job at Penske Racing a little early.
Keselowski will drive the No. 12 Dodge for the final three NASCAR Sprint Cup races of the season, replacing David Stremme .
Keselowski, who won the Cup race at Talladega in April, signed a deal in September to take over the No. 12 in 2010.

Federer still sharp after his long break
In Basel, Switzerland, Roger Federer made a winning return from a six-week break with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Olivier Rochus of Belgium at his hometown Swiss Indoors tournament.
The top-ranked player looked rested after last playing Sept. 20, when he helped Switzerland beat Italy in the Davis Cup.
He will next play 51st-ranked Andreas Seppi , who rallied to beat Stephane Bohli 4-6, 6-1, 7-5.
- In Valencia, Spain, Nikolay Davydenko of Russia has cruised into the second round of the Valencia Open with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Colombian qualifier Alejandro Falla .
Also, Tomas Berdych beat Paul-Henri Mathieu 6-3, 6-4 in the hard-court tournament at the City of Arts and Sciences.
