WRENS, Ga. - Samuel Leonard "Lent" Braswell, 86, husband of the late Laura J. Braswell, entered into rest Saturday, October 31, 2009, at University Hospital. The family will receive friends today, Tuesday, November 3, 2009 from 6:00-8:00PM at James Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11:00AM on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at the James Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Emmett "Tip" Carroll officiating. Interment will follow in the Wrens Memorial Cemetery. Lent was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County. He was a member of Wrens Baptist Church and the Walter Jacobson Men's Sunday School Class. Lent was a proud veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post 229. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmo and Gertrude McGahee Braswell, and his brother, Hoyt Braswell. Lent's survivors include a step-daughter, Betsy (Charles) Milburn; a brother, Joe P. "Peemite" (Carol) Braswell, Sr., Augusta GA; a sister-in-law, Lena Braswell, Wrens GA; two granddaughters, Jenna M. (Doug) Teachey, Atlanta GA, and Anna M. (Kyle) Kirchman, Clovis CA; three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Grace Teachey, Mollie Anna Teachey and Connor Rabun Kirchman; nieces and nephews Lucretia B. Scott, Joey Braswell, Keith Braswell, Linda B. Torpy and Clinton Braswell. Pallbearers will be Joe P. Braswell, Jr., John Torpy II, John Edward Torpy III, Jimmy Brown, Gary Rhodes, and Johnny McGahee. Honorary pallbearers will be American Legion Post 229. The family requests honorary memorials be made to Wrens Baptist Church Building Fund, 300 Broad St, Wrens GA 30833. James Funeral Home, Wrens, GA.
