WHEN: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. today
WHERE: To find your polling place, visit the polling place locator at the Georgia Secretary of State's Web site at www.sos.state.ga.us/elections/polllocator or call the Richmond County Board of Elections at (706) 821-2340.
WHAT TO BRING: Georgia requires voters to present one of six forms of identification at the polls. Those are:
- Georgia driver's license
- Valid photo voter identification card
- Other valid identification card issued by a branch, department, agency or entity of Georgia, any other state or the United States authorized by law to issue personal identification containing a photograph
- U.S. passport
- Employee identification card issued by any branch, department, agency or entity of the U.S. government, the state or any county, municipality, board, authority or other entity of the state
- Military photo identification card
- A valid tribal photo identification card
MOST COMMON QUESTIONS: Richmond County Board of Elections Executive Director Lynn Bailey said the most common questions from voters this year involve which district they reside in and whether their polling place is open.
Only districts that have contested races will have open polling places. If there is no opposition and no one has qualified as a write-in candidate, then the candidate is deemed to have voted for himself or herself and the polling places will not be opened.
The offices that are up for election and that have opposed races on the ballot are Augusta Commission Districts 1, 3 and 5; Board of Education District 5; three members of the Hephzibah City Commission; and mayor and two council members for the city of Blythe. Call the Board of Elections Office at (706) 821-2340 for more information.

Vote for change! Vote against the special interests running Augusta. Vote Butch! www.butchforaugusta.org
It seems some strange cars (blk & wht) continued to be positioned near voting area on Highland and the Hill area. Of course they are writing "paperwork" and doing lawman's work but couldn't they return to the station for such duties. The appearance is that the old tactic of reducing minority turn-out is being employed to affect races...is this a pattern?
justus4, get it a rest. Most officers do their paperwork in their vehicles between calls because it saves time and money not to drive all the way back to the station to fill out "paperwork". You would find any reason to make this a racial thing. Get a life!
Vote Matt Aitken if you want District 1 to have a future!
Butch is such a strange dude. I'll never forget how he "friended" me on Facebook, and then proceeded to transmit campaign spam without so much as a hidey-ho. I wish I lived in his district so I could vote against him.
justus4, are you telling us a blk & wht car near the pole would keep you from voting? LOL!!! Would somebody post a blk & wht car on the comments, please?~!!!!
It's an election, not a STING Operation...although, you may be on to something!!!
