Fisher to meet Kim in finals

CASARES, Spain --- Ross Fisher beat Masters Tournament champion Angel Cabrera on the third playoff hole Saturday to set up a World Match Play Championship final against Anthony Kim.

Ross Fisher defeated Masters Tournament champion Angel Cabrera in a playoff to make it to the World Match Play final.

Fisher won 1-up after Cabrera needed five shots to reach the green on the final hole. Fisher had sent his second shot from 244 yards within 5 feet of the pin in fading light at the Finca Cortesin golf course.

Kim advanced by beating Robert Allenby 5 and 4. Kim, who beat the Australian 5 and 3 at the Presidents Cup, rallied from an early two-hole deficit, pulling away at the 27th hole when he holed an approach from 101 yards.

Today's 36-hole final will be Fisher's and Kim's first in their debut appearance in the event, with a $1.1 million prize on the line.

CHAMPIONS TOUR: In Sonoma, Calif., John Cook extended his lead in the season-ending Charles Schwab Cup after shooting 5-under-par 67.

Cook, who led by three shots afer a second-round 62, is at 19-under 197 and now leads by six shots over Russ Cochran (68 on Saturday.

Augusta native Larry Mize had 68 and is tied for fifth place at 205, eight shots behind Cook.

EUROPEAN TOUR: In Singapore, Ian Poulter was 4-over through six holes in the third round of the Singapore Open, dropping the Englishman into a tie for the Singapore Open lead with France's Thomas Levet and Japan's Kodai Ichihara.

Poulter, five strokes ahead after completing a second-round 64 in the morning, faltered in the afternoon to fall to 8-under before thunderstorms stopped play.

LPGA TOUR: In Incheon, South Korea, Na Yeon Choi, of South Korea, shot 1-under-par 71 and Taiwan's Yani Tseng had 70 to share the lead at 5-under par after a wet and windy second round of the LPGA Tour's KOLON Championship.

PGA TOUR: In Madison, Miss., PGA Tour officials canceled the Viking Classic on Saturday because of unplayable course conditions. Augusta native Charles Howell was among those in the field.

There will be no makeup date and players will move on to the final event of the season, the Children's Miracle Network Classic on Nov. 12-15 in Orlando, Fla.
