AUBURN, Ala. --- Chris Todd passed for 212 yards, Ben Tate ran for 144 yards and Walt McFadden returned an interception for a touchdown to lift Auburn to a 33-20 win over No. 24 Mississippi on Saturday.
The Tigers (6-3, 3-3 SEC) scored 23 points in the third quarter and turned away Jevan Snead and the Rebels (5-3, 2-3) seven times on drives to midfield or beyond.
Once ranked No. 4, Ole Miss had appeared to get back on track with two consecutive wins but couldn't overcome a frenzied third-quarter flurry that led to a 24-point hole.
McFadden stopped the Rebels' final chance by stepping in front of Snead's pass near the Auburn goal line for his second pick in the final minutes. He also had a 29-yard return for a score in the third quarter.
Auburn got its offense going after dropping three consecutive games and raising fears of another late-season collapse.
NO. 9 LSU 42, TULANE 0
In Baton Rouge, La., Brandon LaFell caught two touchdown passes, moving him into second on Louisiana State University's career list, and the ninth-ranked Tigers shut out Tulane for the first time since 1969.
Charles Scott rushed for 112 yards and two touchdowns and freshman Russell Shepard scored his second career touchdown -- and second in as many games -- with a 19-yard run. Jordan Jefferson threw for 163 yards and two scores, both to LaFell, who has 22 career TDs, four behind Dwayne Bowe.
On the 50th anniversary of Billy Cannon's Halloween night, 89-yard punt return to beat Ole Miss, LSU's Trindon Holliday was unable to take a punt all the way back. He did, however, have a pair of 50-yard returns, the second setting up Scott's second touchdown.
MISSISSIPPI STATE 31, KENTUCKY 24
In Lexington, Ky., Anthony Dixon rushed for two touchdowns and a school-record 252 yards as Mississippi State kept its bowl hopes alive by outlasting Kentucky.
Dixon broke Jerious Norwood's single-game record of 247 yards just two weeks after he surpassed Norwood's career rushing mark of 3,212 yards. Norwood set the one-game record in 2005 against Houston.
Mississippi State (4-5, 2-3 Southeastern Conference) won its second consecutive matchup in Lexington against the Wildcats (4-4, 1-4), who defeated the Bulldogs last year in Starkville.
ARKANSAS 63, EASTERN MICHIGAN 27
In Fayetteville, Ark., Ryan Mallett went 14 of 16 for 248 yards and three touchdowns, and Broderick Green added a 99-yard touchdown run to lead Arkansas' rout .
The Razorbacks scored 50 points for the first time under coach Bobby Petrino, who took over before last season.
Arkansas (4-4) led 42-0 at halftime and held the Eagles (0-8) without a first down until their second possession of the third quarter.
