What is it?

Chosen randomly from the correct entries was the name of Gregory Simmons, of Martin, S.C., who said the grille and hood scoop helped him identify the car.

Mr. Simmons wins a gift from The Augusta Chronicle. Other readers identifying the vehicle included:

AIKEN: Bob Hardt, who wrote: "I cheated a little on this one, it was just featured in one of the magazines I read. Tricky little car with a turbocharged motor, supposed to be fun in the twisties! It has a big smile grille, takes some getting used to, but is the new look of Mazda for 2010."

AUGUSTA: Carolyn Ogles, who wrote: "Because of the price, most likely we will be seeing more of this auto on the highway"; and Michael Mann, who said the smiley grille gave it away for him, too.

CUMMING, GA.: Chris Rhodes, who wrote: "This factory-built hot rod is based on Mazda's five-door hatchback. It is equipped with Mazda's potent 2.3-liter direct-injected, turbocharged in-line four cylinder which cranks out an impressive 263 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. All of this grunt is channeled through a six-speed manual transaxle equipped with a limited-slip differential and an updated suspension shod with 18-inch wheels and Dunlop performance tires."

EVANS: Jerry Paul, and Don Kittilson, who quoted Car and Driver magazine in saying: "Few hot hatches are as quick to put smiles on our faces as the Mazdaspeed 3."

HEPHZIBAH: Eddie Cleaves

MARTINEZ: Cheryl Cook, Toby MacKendree and John Hayes

NORTH AUGUSTA: Don Ash, and Michael Futrell, who said: "I think they look great, probably the most power per dollar you can buy."

WARRENTON, GA.: Joel Ramsey

WATKINSVILLE, GA.: Joe Arp
