Obama didn 't deserve Peace Prize

  • Follow Letters

Upon hearing the news that President Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize, my first thought was: What did he do to earn the prize? That should have been President Obama's first thought as well.

He should have graciously declined this award. By accepting the Nobel Peace Prize, he has diminished the award and himself. It appears that his ego got the best of his integrity on this occasion.

I am immensely proud that he was the first elected African-American president. But that is no reason to accept an unearned Nobel Peace Prize.

Kevin Palmer, Martinez

Mr Palmer, I guess you haven't been keeping up with the stories and comments in the AC since the prize was announced. This horse has already been beaten dead and is in the dog food cans on store shelves.

How many stories about the
Unpublished

How many stories about the Peace Prize now? Must be about 16 and counting, along with example after example of individuals comfused and misguided. Ignorance abound and no end in sight, but wait, isn't there an investigation going on about a bribery attempt of two local elected officials? Isn't that "hard news" as opposed to silly opinions about the selection of the Nobel Prize? What about a LTE speculating on the results of the secret investigation, or an educated guess on who else gets sucked into the legal quicksand... or, what about an opinion piece on the perils of illegal behavior. That's the job of a printing operations regardless of the individuals involved.

This newspaper will hold

This newspaper will hold letters and print them months later if they think they make Obama look bad. Either the people of Augusta write some of the worst letters in the world or this paper has an agenda. By money is going on the latter.

Kevin, this is old news. He's won the award that he admits he doesn't deserve, but won't refuse. He'll next win a Heisman Trophy for watching a college football game. Forget it and move on. Obama's a one termer anyway.

Old news, now not news. Get out more. BTW, Bill Clinton was just a one-termer, too. Oh, wait, THE PEOPLE voted him into office for a second term, didn't they. You know, the United States would bve a GREAT country if only THE PEOPLE would get out of the way and let the REAL AMERICANS run the place. Just don't pay any attention to that constitutionality issue.

Its funny that people care

Its funny that people care that Obama was awarded this when polls (I know some of you don't believe in polls) show that most Americans consider the Nobel Peace Prize a European award and do not give it much credence anyway. This is clearly more about Obama hating than protecting the integrity of the award because most Americans don't care about the award.

Martinez, man you live on the

Martinez, man you live on the planet double effingham with a side of double f sauce....Obama Deserved the NPP more than anyone else in history in my opinion.
He got elected while apologizing for a misbegotten war in Iraq. That is more impressive than his being the first AfrAmerican president.
Then he halted by fiat the Polish missle shield, which averted another cold war with Russia and China so thereby also stopped an inevitable Israeli strike on Iran by bringing Russia and China into our camp vs the Iranian nuclear expansion.
His move to allow families in America and Cuba free travel begins to counteract the most illogical and prideful move in US history (the Cuban embargo).
President Obama deserved the Nobel Peace Prize. And you need to take a class in getting clues.

It's very interesting that so

It's very interesting that so many people are trying to undo the decision made by the Nobel committee, who owe nothing more than an explanation to anyone in reaching their selection. President Obama's name was one of 205 put into the pot back in February 2009, and as I understand, the final decision was made only two weeks before the announcement. That means that 204 people were eliminated through some thoughtful process before selecting him. The committee selected and awarded the prize to Obama, and it won't be undone, so stuff a sock in it and go to another subject. By the way, I agree with the committee's choice!

Justus, I think you should

Justus, I think you should start a black newspaper so that you could print lots of opinion pieces and investigate illegal behavior. Oh wait, that's been done, and somebody got sent to prison for the fraud (as in illegal behavior) they committed while they operated that black newspaper. Mmmm....maybe not such a good idea after all.

The AC should stop printing

The AC should stop printing letters that say the same thing over and over. Enough with the Nobel Peace Prize. Obama won it. Let it go, people!
