CHARLESTON, S.C. --- Jenny Sanford, making her first official public appearance since moving away from South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford, said Saturday she has said all she needs to about her husband's difficulties and a possible reconciliation.
Mrs. Sanford was among an estimated 18,000 people who ran and walked during the Susan G. Komen Lowcountry Race for the Cure in Charleston, which raises awareness and money for breast cancer research.
The couple started living apart during the summer after Mr. Sanford revealed he had an affair with an Argentine woman. The State Ethics Commission is investigating his air travel practices after an Associated Press investigation of travel records. Lawmakers are awaiting results of the ethics probe to decide whether to hold a special session to consider impeachment.
"Things are going great," Mrs. Sanford said after finishing the walk with her sister, Kathy Sullivan.
When asked about her husband and reconciliation, she said, "I think I've said all I need to say about that," calling any reconciliation personal.
While Mr. Sanford remains at the Governor's Mansion in Columbia, Mrs. Sanford is living with the couple's four sons in their beachside home on Sullivans Island.
She said Saturday was her first official public appearance since the controversy broke, but added, "I haven't been hiding." She said she would likely be doing more appearances in the future.
"The family comes first," she said. "But subject to making sure everybody is OK, I'll do whatever I can."
Mrs. Sanford has released several statements but given only two extended interviews since news of her husband's affair -- one to The Associated Press and a second to Vogue magazine.
She has a contract for a memoir to be published in May and said, laughing, that she was "absolutely" keeping her story for the book.
"I'm writing," she said. "Hopefully it will be a book that will be helpful to women and other folks throughout the country, and I look forward to getting it out there."
Mrs. Sanford has long been a supporter of efforts to fight cancer.
"I have a cousin who died of it and an aunt who has it now," she said. "We have a number of other cancers in our family, so we're very aware about the risks in our family and we're careful to exercise and eat well."

what personal life, jennie, and who cares? i guess we all figured out you don't have much of a personal life if ole marky poo is pining for his soulmate in argentina. AC needs to leave these type of soap opera stories to the tabloids.
MUM? What else does she need to say? She said a mouthful once ole Mark spilled the beans. They were having trouble long before his jaunt to see his "soul mate". She plays the victim well.
Kick him to the curb but be sure to empty his pockets and wallet first. She is just setting him up for the divorce, just like he set her up, and the children, for all the hurt, pain, and embarrassment. She is getting things in order and then she will make her move. WTG, Jenny.
The big cancer in your life is Mark
