COLUMBUS, Ga. --- A federal judge in Georgia fined a leader of the movement challenging President Obama's citizenship and warned her against using the legal system to pursue "political rhetoric and insults."
U.S. District Judge Clay D. Land's scathing 43-page order Tuesday said California lawyer and dentist Orly Taitz filed "frivolous" litigation and attempted to misuse the federal courts to push a political agenda.
Ms. Taitz, a leader of the so-called birther movement, sued in Georgia federal court on behalf of Army Capt. Connie Rhodes, who sought to avoid deployment to Iraq by claiming Mr. Obama wasn't born in the U.S. and that he was "an illegal usurper, unlawful pretender and unqualified impostor."
Documents show the president was born in Hawaii.
Judge Land, appointed in 2001 by President George W. Bush, had already dismissed the lawsuit, but Ms. Taitz continued filing motions. He said he fined her $20,000 "as a deterrent to prevent future misconduct and to protect the integrity of the court."
"The absolute absence of any legitimate legal argument, combined with the political diatribe in her motions, demonstrates that Ms. Taitz's purpose is to advance a political agenda and not to pursue a legitimate legal cause of action," Judge Land wrote.
He added that while Ms. Taitz's speech is protected by the First Amendment, "the federal courts are reserved for hearing genuine legal disputes, not as a platform for political rhetoric and insults."
Ms. Taitz told The Daily Report that Judge Land's order is "an absolute outrage."
"All I can say is that this order is issued with a goal to intimidate me, harass me and retaliate against me for bringing a legitimate action on behalf of my client," she said.

Obama admited that he traveled to Pakistan in 1981, but Pakistan was on the American "no fly list". You could not gain entry to Pakistan in 1981 with an "American Passport". So that means he entered with a British passport, i.e. (citizen of Kenya) or an Indonesian passport. The bottom line is that in 1981, Obama was not a citizen of this country. That judge and you people need to wake up and come out of the obama coma!

As a Soldier she swore an oath to fight against all enemies foriegn and domestic....she was just trying to get out of a deployment! This war was not started under the Obama administration, so why is it all of a sudden an issue for her to deploy?
Beachbum1776, Just because America said you could not fly to Pakistan, does not mean that Americans could not get into Pakistan. Look around you right now, there are plenty of illegal aliens in our Country. Don't you think there are a few in Pakistan as well? Heck in 1981, you get across many borders without passports, very few countries could protect their borders. Now, they do not bother unless there are at war.
So you're saying Obama traveled to Pakistan even though he knew it was illegal to do so at that time. Sounds like times haven't changed for him!
No, he went to Pakistan without an American visa. He flew to India, most likely, and then travelled from there. You are applying your American mindset- of flying to a country and going through Customs- and it's just not like that in those Third World countries. Just like Cuba, people can go to Cuba anytime they want, they just can't fly there from the US. This argument is just dumb, and says more about the people that believe it, than it does about Obama. He was a college kid, and nobody cares about college kids travelling.

There is something to the allegations that the big O is not a citizen of the US--the question arises from the FACT that he applied for and was given grant monies to attend the University of his choice on applications filed as A FOREIGN STUDENT...one does not qualify for this grant UNLESS THEY CAN SHOW PROOF THAT THEY ARE A LEGITIMATE FOREIGNER. I attended college and met some of these students, so I know that the grants do exist and are given out by the Federal government.

Hey, I have something shocking to confess. My cousin's daughter went to Thailand a year ago, to work as a volunteer. She was supposed to stay 2 months. She got a job teaching English, and because it is dirt cheap to live there, saved money. Now she's in Indonesia and is going to India. NOTIFY THE STATE DEPARTMENT!!!! LAUNCH AN ALL-OUT INVESTIGATION!!! CALL THE INDONESIAN GOVERNMENT!!! OH MY GOD, there's a college kid over there!!!! NOW WHEN SHE BECOMES THE PRESIDENT OF THE US, READ SOMETHING SINISTER IN THAT!!!!

Didn't he get scholarship money based on the fact that he is a foreign-born student? I guess he can have it both ways, unlike the rest of us. If he was born in Hawaii, (of which we do not have a proper birth certificate, only a document one issued in LIEU of one) then his financial aid may have been gained under fraudulent circumstances. Is that why they won't release his student records?
You would think that a dentist would have enough patients to think and worry about. You would also think that because openings in medical schools are so hard to get, that only a person dedicated to medicine would be allowed to attend. That is the real outrage in this story, the waste of a medical school position.

It was PERFECTLY LEGAL for Americans to fly directly to Pakistan in 1981; there was no "no fly list." That was a propaganda lie made up by birthers as part of their continuing efforts to discredit and delegitimize our President. The U.S. consul general in Lahore was quoted in the NY Times back then saying that he would "welcome an influx of Americans" to Lahore, the city Obama visited. A travel advisory from the State Department dated Aug. 17, 1981 notes that Americans traveling to Pakistan require a 30-day visa, and that any staying longer must check in with Pakistan’s Foreigner Registration Office. Perfectly legal. The birthers won't let the facts stand in the way of a good lie.
BBSouth and Corgimom: The documents were published on repputable news sites--I don't post about items I have not seen or read. The big O needs to quit hiding--what's he guilty of? I don't consider myself a "birther" but I do believe in telling the truth. The big O's refusal to provide full disclosure merely adds to the probabillity that he isn't what he claims to be. As far as the "Hawaaian Birth Certificate," it is also questionable. I am not a birther. I am just a citizen who expects the President to qualify with the same birth certificate I or any other legal citizen would be required to present to qualify, not a document issued IN LIEU OF a legal birth certificate. I hope like-minded people donate the full amount of the fine to her and then some for her expenses and duress while trying to do the right thing.
